The Islanders are getting a great
player, a great leader and an even better person.

Great season ends too early with a 10-3
loss to a great Oak Ridge team
Your webmaster originally posted the tribute above to our seniors at the
district turn, when the Panthers were 4-3. I asked those seniors to make
some more memories and they did, with a 6-0 run in round 2. So there were
many tears - of sadness mixed with some satisfaction, when the 2015 season
came to an end Friday night with a loss to the #3 state ranked Oak Ridge War
Eagles.
The better team won and we wish our neighbors well. They are one of the few
teams that really has a chance to end the playoffs on a win.
For the third game in a row, things didn't begin well for our Panthers.
Nerves? It looked like it as the Panthers handed the War Eagles a 2-0 lead
in the 1st.
With Luken Baker on the mound for Oak Ridge things didn't really look good
but the Panthers wouldn't surrender without a fight. With two outs Roberto
Malinowski drew a walk, Garrett Scott singles, then Ryan Kasper (running for
Roberto) and Garrett advanced on an error. Jacob Bardon knocked in 2 RBIs on
a single to tie it up after the first.
However, Oak Ridge added 2 in the 2nd, 2 in the 3rd, and 4 in the 5th to
break the game open. Garrett Scott had the final RBI on a fielder's choice
single in the 5th to bring the score to 10-3.
Chris Kusman finished the job on the mound, going 2.2 innings with 0 runs on
3 hits and 2 BBs with 2 Ks, proving once again that this guy has a future in
this game.
Panthers, this is not the way we wanted this season to end. But you made us
very proud, getting KO Baseball back in the playoffs and fighting to the
end. We love you guys. We will miss our magnificent seniors. Thanks
to all of you for all of the great memories of a great season. And we can't
wait for next year!
The Panthers managed just two hits - by Garrett Scott and Roberto Malinowski
- while allowing 10 and committing five errors. The Panthers though were
still in the game after five innings thanks to a good pitching performance
by Nolan Bond. The War Eagles struck for five more runs in bottom of the
sixth for the run rule win.
The series moves to Klein Oak for game 2 on Friday at 7 pm. Get it done,
Panthers!

Sophomore Team!
Panthers drop seeding game to Spring 5-3
The Panthers dug themselves a 5-0 hole in the third inning. Then they seemed
to wake up and battled back impressively. However, just like last night a
couple of bases loaded innings weren't as productive as they should have
been. The Panthers managed just three hits.
An ill but game Tanner Lawson got the start. He managed to throw two 0s on
the board before trouble hit in the third. 5 runs on 6 hits (1 HR), 0 BBs
and 1 K. Chris Kusman was very impressive in relief. 0 runs on 0 hits and 0
BBs with 3 Ks. Nice work, Chris!
In the last district game of the season Nolan Bond took the mound and ended
up on the losing side to a very good Klein team. Nolan gave up 2 runs in the
1st inning (1 earned) and then put up zeros until he hit a bump in the
sixth.
Andrew Morgan then came in relief and shut down the side. Andrew looked
great out on the mound only surrendering one run in the 7th.
The Panthers had their fair share of chances on base but could not
capitalize on the many walks tonight and could only muster 3 hits for one
run sparked by a great hit by Chase Cos.
The defense was stellar tonight with Grant Ozarchuk making many great plays
at 2nd base.
Trevor Gracey went the distance on the mound, giving up four runs on 9 hits
and 0 BBs with 6 Ks. But the Panthers managed just two hits off solid Klein
pitching.
We believe in you Panthers and hope that the end of season disappointments
will just make you more determined as you turn the page and look toward a
promising future.
Sophomore fall 4-3 to Klein in only
district loss
The Sophomores had already clinched a district title but just short of their
goal of an undefeated district campaign as the Bearkats scored four runs in
the home 5th to snatch the win.
Kevin Hoy was the hard luck loser on the mound for the Panthers. Pitching a
shutout going into the 5th he surrendered the four runs on five hits and 6
BBs with 6 Ks. Kevin also had 2 RBIs on 1 hit to lead the offense.
Panthers, we hope falling just short of your ultimate goal leaves you hungry
for next year. The sky is the limit for this amazing, talented freshmen
class. We're very proud of you and we can't wait for next year!
Varsity gets 14-1 run rule win over Klein
Forest!
Chris Kusman took the mound tonight for the Panthers against Klein Forest
and held the Forest offense to 3 hitless innings to take the win while
striking out 2. Tristan Oaks pitched 1 inning giving up 1 run on 2 hits and
Chad Boudreaux came in the 5th inning and closed the game out striking out 2
and giving up 0 hits for 14-1 win.
The Klein Oak offense took advantage of the Forest pitching early. They
eventually got 11 hits on the night including a nice double by the Oak
center fielder Rhett Tomberlin and a 2 for 2 night from Garrett Scott.
Oak's defense had another great game tonight. Keep it going Panthers!!
JV defeats KF 11-3 behind complete game
by Noah Tidwell!
It was 3-3 in the middle of the 4th before the Panthers broke it open with
four in the 4th and four more in the 5th.
Cade Phelan, Ryan Scofield and Trevor Howe all had three hits to lead the
Panthers. Scofield and Howe both had two RBIs.
Noah Tidwell scattered three hits and 3 BBs with 5 Ks over seven innings.
Drake Dalton leads Sophomores past KF
9-1! District Champs!
Drake had a nice complete game outing, scattering 3 hits and 1 BB while
striking out 11 for the Panthers.
The Panthers had 10 hits but nobody had two so it was a complete team
effort. Wesley Casey had 2 RBIs on a triple and Adam Houck also had a
triple. Cameron Long doubled.
Photo gallery.
Congratulations to the Sophomore Panthers for clinching a district
title with tonight's win! You are awesome, Panthers, and we appreciate all
of you! Really!
Panthers defeat Montgomery 3-0!
Tanner Lawson got the complete game shutout win on the mound, scattering 5
hits with 0 BBs, 5 Ks and 3 pickoffs.
The Panthers took the lead in the 2nd on a 2 RBI double by Chase Cos and
added an insurance run in the 6th on homerun by Rhett Tomberlin!
Roberto Malinowski and Jacob Bardon both had two hits. Nice work, Panthers!
JV falls to Montgomery 5-0
The Panthers just couldn't muster much offense off Bear complete game winner
Miestad. Trevor Gracey doubled and was robbed of another double by a great
catch in left field. Sam Campbell singled and had a BB and John Emerson
singled and that was it.
Nolan Bond's complete game gem leads
Panthers past Collins 7-1!
Great team effort by the Panthers tonight! Nolan Bond took the mound for
Oak throwing complete game for the win.
Great pitching was backed up by some great fielding with several stand out
plays made in the field to help hold a very good hitting Klein Collins team
to just 6 hits.
Collins looked like they were going to get something started in the 6th when
Rhett Tomberlin had an unbelievable inning ending catch in left center, In
the bottom of the 7th inning it was left fielder Garrett Scotts turn to do
the same, Roberto Malinowski also had another solid performance behind the
plate tonight. Great job guys!!
Offensively Oak got the better of the Collins pitching staff as they could
not tame the Panther bats. Roberto Malinowski was on fire with 2 doubles and
a single. Garrett Scott and Mitchell Howe also hitting one double and one
single each. Chase Cos also shot a triple down the right field line and hit
a single later in the game scoring both times.
Combined with Spring's win over Montgomery the Panthers clinched a playoff
spot! Way to go Oak!
JV suffers 7th inning loss to Collins.
The Panthers took a 1-0 lead into the 7th inning Wednesday night in a
pitchers duel at KO. But the Tigers rallied for four runs in the 7th. The
Panthers answered with two in the bottom of the inning but fell short by a
run.
Sophomores rally to defeat Collins 5-4!
A RBI double by Ryan Scofield plated Adam Houck in the bottom of the 5th to
give the Panthers a six inning win over Collins. The Panthers remain
undefeated in district play!
Houck went 3 for 3 , with 2 RBIs, at the plate. Brent Morgan also had two
RBIs.
Ben Content got the win on the mound giving up just one hit while stricking
out four in two innings of relief.
Chris Kusman's outstanding pitching
performance leads Varsity over Spring 3-2!
Wow what a game! Chris Kusman took the mound tonight for the Klein Oak
Panther in a very tight game. Chris was up for the challenge in a great 3-2
win against a very tough Spring team.
Tanner Lawson came in the 6th inning and pitched the final 2 frames to close
out the game for Oak.
Spring starter James Phillips pitched a complete game for spring, but the
offense came up short on runs.
The panthers bats were on fire tonight with 9 hits scoring runs in the 1st,
2nd and Connor Eddy drove in Nolan Bond to plate the winning run with 2 outs
in the bottom of the 6th.
Leading the offense for the panthers was Connor Eddy, Roberto Malinowski and
Nolan Bond all with 2 hits and Grant Ozarchuk hitting the only double for
the Panthers. Chase Cos had a timely hit in the bottom of the 6th moving
what ended out to be the winning run into scoring position.
The Oak defense had another solid night with Grant Ozarchuk turning a very
nice double play and we saw some excellent work behind the plate by Roberto
Malinowski. Great all round performance Panthers!
Photo gallery (including Diamond Girls Senior Night).
JV falls to Spring 5-4.
The Panthers outhit Spring 14-6 but fell to the Lions in the bottom of the
7th.
Ryan Gryder, Alejandro DeAlba, and Cooper Ritz led the offense with 5, 4 and
3 hits respectively but obviously most of those hits were wasted.
Tanner Saul's no-hitter leads Sophomores
past Spring 11-0 in six!
Tanner was dominant on the mound - 0 runs on 0 hits with 3 BBs and 12 Ks.
Congratulations, young man! Congratulations also to battery mate Ryan
Scofield!
Obviously he got plenty of run support. Ben Content had 3 hits while Tanner
and Ryan Scofield had 2 each. Warren Blair led the Panthers in RBIs with
two.
The Sophomore Panthers remain undefeated in district play!
No news on the JV game.
Sophomores add two new games to schedule
Both are Saturday, April 25th
10 am vs. Montgomery at KO (Montgomery will be home team)
3 pm against Klein at Klein Oak
Panthers beat Dekaney 13-3 in 5 innings!
The Panthers pitched Chris Kusman tonight who allowed only 2 hits while
striking out 6 batters in 4 innings with a great pitching performance.
Likewise for Chad Boudreaux who came in to close out the game and retired
the side for the Oak run rule win.
Klein Oak had their fair share of hits tonight with timely 2 run doubles
from both Mitchell Howe and Derek Rocka. Several other Oak hitters got to
the Dekaney pitcher early in the first inning that resulted Oak plating five
runs. The Panthers never looked back!
Oak were also solid on defense tonight allowing only one error in the game,
and an all round good team performance.
Varsity game vs. Dekaney moved
to KO at 7 pm tonight (Wednesday)
The sub varsity games have been cancelled.
Nolan Bond leads Panthers to 5-0 win over
Westfield!
Nolan Bond took the mound for the Panthers tonight throwing a shut out for
Klein Oak.
The Panthers had timely hits tonight and some very good quality at bats.
Grant Ozarchuk hit the game's only extra base hit of the night.
Defensively the panthers held their own tonight flashing a couple of double
plays on a slow field due to heavy rain.
Westfield starter Stephen Morales pitched very well and went the distance
allowing all 5 Panther runs.
Sophomores are all alone in 1st place at 7-0. JV is tied for 1st at 6-1.
Varsity is in 4th place at 4-3. More work to do!
Varsity run ruled by Klein 10-0 in 5
innings.
Tanner Lawson took the mound tonight for the Panthers against the Klein
BearKats. Tanner pitched into the 5th inning and gave 4 earned runs 4ks and
1 walk.
Tanner was relieved by Nolan Bond after leaving the 5th inning with no outs,
Nolan proceeded to give an additional 6 runs 5 earned and 1k in what ended
up being a blow out 10-0 shut out for the BearKats.
The Panthers just could not get it going against the Klein pitcher Christian
Tripp. The Panthers had plenty of baserunners, but left 8 players stranded
through the 5 innings played. This included a bases loaded, 1 out 2nd inning
that the Panthers couldn't convert into any runs.
Roberto Malinowski was the most consistant Panther tonight at the plate
going a perfect 3 for 3 with 1 double and 2 singles. The only other hit on
the night for Oak was a double by Mitchell Howe. Trevor Gracey had two
walks.
Photo gallery.
Sophomores rally to overcome Klein 5-4!
Kevin Hoy proved that when he doesn't have his best stuff going for him on
the mound he becomes a warrior. He gave up 4 runs on 5 hits and 4 BBs with 6
Ks. For a guy who usually makes it look easy, this was struggling. He didn't
have much help from the defense (4 errors). The Bearkats scored two in the
first and two in the third to take a 4-1 lead. But Kevin still managed to
throw three 0s on the board to finish the game. You made us proud, Kevin!
The other Panthers proved warriers also with 4 runs in the bottom of the 5th
to secure the win and remain undefeated in district play! Brent Morgan and
Ryan Scofield both had two hits (one of Brent's a double) to lead the
Panther offense. Clutch RBIs by Aaron Lynch, Wesley Casey, Brent Morgan, and
Ryan Scofield. Congratulations, Panthers!

JV note: the JV Panthers were trailing 7-0 in the 5th when your webmaster
left the game. Final score was 9-0 but I don't have stats yet.

Varsity plates 8 in the third to take
command and down Forest 18-0!
In a game that was very one sided KO Panther Nolan Bond was on the mound for
3innings giving up 0 hits, 1 walk and 2Ks. Chris Kusman pitched 1 inning
giving up 1 hit before retiring the side and Chad Boudreaux came in for the
last inning striking out all 3 batters faced.
Forest's starting pitcher was tough, limiting the Panthers to two runs in
each of the first two innings. After that the Panthers easily handled Klein
Forest pitching as six hitters combined for 10 hits, 12 RBIs and 10 runs
scored,
Roberto Malinowski and Weston Davis (who came in off the bench to pinch hit)
each had triples and Connor Eddy, who was on fire, had an outstanding 3
doubles.
The Panthers defense was great today fielding every grounder and popup with
grant Ozarchuk turning a great double play in the top of the 1st inning.
Great team effort again today Panthers!
Photo
gallery. Lets go beat
Klein Tuesday!
JV strikes early to down KF 22-3!
The Panthers had plenty of energy after getting rained out on Wednesday and
took it out on the Golden Eagles, plating 9 runs in the 1st inning, six in
the 2nd and 6 in the third. That was enough.
Mason Moszkowicz had 4 hits, Cade Phelan 3 and a host of Panther contributed
to the 16 hit total. Noah Tidwell had 4 RBIs and Cade Phelan 3.
Sam Campbell got the win on the mound with two innings of work. Alek
Arellano and Josh Seale finished the job for the Panthers. Nice work
Panthers. Go beat Klein!
Sophomores strike in 1st and coast to
11-1 victory over KF!
After getting rained out last night the Panthers used five pitchers - Tanner
Saul, Kevin Hoy, Drake Dalton, Nash McCleland, and Wesley Casey over the
course of a five ining run rule game. All did well; only 1 hit all day. The
Panther defense was flawless.
Nobody had more than one hit as this was a team effort. Brent Morgan and Ben
Content both had two RBIs. Nice work, Panthers. Go beat Klein!
Varsity strikes in the 7th to beat
Montgomery 2-1!
Tanner Lawson took the mound tonight for the Panthers throwing a complete
game 2-1 win against a very good Montgomery team! Tanner was lights out from
the get go and only surrendered one run in the 2nd inning, He gave up 7hits,
1 walk and 7ks in very well pitched game.
Great pitching was also backed up by some solid defense and timely hitting,
starting off with a lead off double by Garrett Scott in the 2nd coupled up
by a base hit single by Mitchell Howe to tie the game.
Things stayed smooth for Oak until the 6th when Tanner hit a bump in the
road loading the bases with no outs. Tanner dug down deep and struck out the
next 3 to retire the side.
Bottom of 6th was the game turning point where Connor Eddy was hit by a
pitch for the second time tonight and made Montgomery pay by stealing
2nd. 3rd baseman Jacob Bardon brought Connor home with the game winning
single to right field.
A gutsy performance tonight with several stand out players in the infield
and outfield flashing some great leather and 4 hits and 11 quality at bats.
Lets start making a run at this Panthers!!
Photo gallery.
The sub varsity games were rained out at Montgomery. We don't know yet if
they will be rescheduled.
Change in times for Klein Forest games
on Thursday.
Varsity will be at 2 pm at Panther Field!
Sophomores will be at noon and the JV at 2 pm at Klein Forest.
Sophomores come back again to beat
Tomball 13-12!
Three weekend games at Panther Field and for the third time the Panthers won
the game in the bottom of the 7th. After a wild one the Panthers faced a
12-9 deficit heading into the final at bat. The Panthers plated four runs,
the final three after 2 outs, to get the win on a hard charging RBI single
by Brent Morgan. That was followed by one of the wildest celebrations this
side of Dell Diamond. So much for "this game doesn't mean anything."
Adam Lipnicki got the start on the mound but ran into trouble in the 2nd and
the Panthers turned to Ryan Scofield. "Sco" three a 0 on the board in the
3rd and 1 in the 4th but ran into trouble in the 5th. Adam Houck came on to
put that fire out, throw a 0 in the 6th and a 1 in the 7th, and collect the
win. Everybody contributed to this great team win over a very good bunch of
Tomball Cougars. We're very proud of you, Panthers!
Photo gallery.
JV hangs on to beat Spring 5-3!
Spring scored first in the top of the first off starter Jackson Dietel. Then
Jackson took command and threw four 0s on the mound in four the following
five innings, allowing 1 in the fifth.
Meanwhile the Panthers scored two in the bottom of the 1st, 1 in the 3rd and
1 in the 5th and 6th to take a 5-2 lead into the 7th. Alex Romero led the
offense with two hits and Bryce Gesner had a hit, a BB and an RBI.
Coach Burks pulled Jackson for Ryan Grider. Ryan promptly loads the bases
with Lions with nobody out. Then balks in a run. Tying run on 2nd with
nobody out. Coach Burks has a pitcher warmed up but elects to put his faith
in Ryan. Ground ball to the pitcher. Ryan fields the ball and throws it to
Dylan Singletary to get the runner coming home. 1 out; tying run on 2nd. Two
Ryan Grider Ks ends the game. Absolutely amazing and inspirational
performance by a young man under intense pressure and nothing working for
him except his own courage!
The Panthers almost wasted a great pitching performance by Ben Content. Ben
had a no hitter going in the 5th . He ended with five runs on 6 hits, 3 BB,
and 11Ks. Three errors by the defense didn't help much.
The Panthers entered the 6th up 3-2. After getting two out things went
really bad and the Lions scored three to take a 5-3 lead.
But the Panthers regrouped and scored three runs in the bottom of the 7th
to get the win! Brent Morgan, Nash McClelland and Caden McMullen had two hits for the Panthers.
Wesley Casey had a game winning squeeze bunt to score Caden McMullen. Adam
Houck got the win in relief. Great team win!
Photo gallery.
Varsity falls to Spring 9-4
The Panthers put UH signee Nolan Bond on the mound but he did not have a
good night, allowing 9 runs on 7 hits with 6 BBs while striking out 4.
Andrew Morgan finished things in the 7th - 0 runs on 1 hit with 0 BB and 2
Ks. The Panther defense committed 4 errors, not helping matters much.
Offensively the Panthers managed just 4 hits; two by Conner Eddy.
Photo gallery (thanks to Mrs. Kusman!) The Panthers need to regroup and go get Montgomery and KF next week (on
Wednesday and Thursday). It's a good time to have two home games.
Varsity beats Westfield 7-4
Tristan Oakes got the start for the Panthers and went six innings to collect
the win. 4 runs on five hits, no BBs and 11 Ks. Chris Kusman finished things
off in the 7th inning, striking out two of the three batters he faced.
The Panthers' eight hits were spread out but Conner Eddy and Rhett Tomberlin
both had two RBIs to lead the Panthers. Good comeback win, Panthers. Go get
Spring!
JV blasts Westfield 16-0!
Sam Campbell and Mason Mozskowics combined for a no hitter. Both went two
innings with no hits, no walks and three strikeouts each.
Bryce Gesner hit a home run over the fence in the left corner. His next hit
was about a foot shorter in the same spot, for a double to add to his three
hit total! Alejandro De Alba also had three hits. Hunter Evans hit one just
short of the left center fence for a double but he raced home on it. Cade
Phelan, Mason Mozskowics and Trevor Howe had two hits each to contribute to
the 16 hit team total. The game was called in the 4th. Nice team win,
Panthers!
Photo gallery.
JV downs Collins 8-6!
The Panthers scored two in the first and led the whole way. Alek Arellano (5
innings) and Noah Tidwell (2 innings) combined for the win on the mound.
Eduard Malinowski - 2 runs on 2 hits - and Chase Cos - 1 run on 1 hit and 1
BB with 2 RBIs - led the offense. Congratulations, Panthers!
Varsity falls 7-6 in a heartbreaker to
Collins.
Two things made this loss really tough to take. 1st - when Rhett Tomberlin
fielded a fly ball in center in the top of the 6th the Panthers were 5 outs
from a 3-0 win with no baserunners. 2nd - the Panthers had, up to that
point, looked like a team tuning up for the state championship. Great
pitching backed up by absolutely amazing defensive plays in every part of
the field. Baseball can't be played better than the Panthers were playing
it.
Things went south in a hurry. Tanner Lawson ran out of gas, surrendering two
runs and leaving two baserunners, with two outs for Tristan Oakes. Tristan
induced a ground ball but the Panthers couldn't make the play at 2nd,
leaving the bases loaded. Which set up a Tiger grand slam to give the Tigers
a 6-3 lead.
Nolan Bond got the ball in the 7th but was unable to prevent the Tigers from
getting an insurance run. That turned out to be the winning run when the
Panthers rallied for three in the bottom of the 7th. But the game ended with
a ground out to short with the tying run stranded on 3rd.
Grant Ozarchuk was amazing with three big hits and Jacob Bardon had two.
Jacob and Conner Eddy had two RBIs.
Photo gallery.
Panthers, we're all tremendously proud of the effort and the outstanding
performances. You proved you can play with anyone. You just have to have the
confidence to finish. It starts tomorrow at Westfield. Beat the Mustangs!
Sophomores beat Collins 7-2!
The Panthers scored one in the 1st, one in the 2nd, two in the 3rd, 1 in the
5th and 2 in the 6th.
Kevin Hoy got the complete game win, allowing two runs on three hits and 4
bases on balls while striking out ten! Nice work, Kevin!
Nash McClelland led the offense with two hits and two RBIs. Great win,
Panthers!
Rescheduling - Varsity cancelled tonight, with a JV addition
The JV will play Westfield (makeup from last Friday) on Wednesday at Oak at
5 pm.
The varsity game vs. Westfield was cancelled
on Monday. If you went to the game before you got the
message, I apologize, but so did I. No new date yet.
The Sophomore (non district) games vs. Collins and Klein will be rescheduled
for a later date.
Also the Sophomore team has added another game
- for Saturday, March 28th against Tomball at 1 pm at Klein Oak.
The Sophomore and JV games for Monday at KC have been rescheduled to Tuesday
at the same time.
The District 15-6A Race
First let me caution you to take the non district records of our opponents
on the "District 15-6A Standings" - to the right - with a grain of salt.
Update: Jay Darneal to the
rescue again. The records have been updated. We're still not sure about
Westfield. The others should be accurate.
Thanks to Jay Darneal for
this
district records and results spreadsheet! Note three
sheets for each of our teams. Awesome job, Coach Darneal. I'm posting this
in Excel format but let me know if
you'd like it in PDF also. I can do that easily if anyone needs it.
Varsity bests Dekaney 11-4!
The Panthers got five great innings from Tanner Lawson on Senior Night. He
tired in the sixth with the Panthers leading 8-0. Chad Bourdreaux came on
with two runs in, the bases loaded, and one out and put out the fire. The
Panthers answered with three runs in the bottom of the sixth to bring the
final to 11-4 after Chad retired the Wildcats without drama in the 7th.
Grant Ozarchuk, Mitchel Howe and Jacob Bardon all had two hits for the
Panthers and Conner Eddy had three RBIs.
Photo game gallery
The Panthers scored four in the 1st, five in the 2nd, and six in the third.
That was enough. It was an overall team effort as no Panther had more than
one of the team's nine hits. Jackson Dietel, Josh Seale and Ryan Gryder
combined for the mound win.
Sophomores blast Dekaney 19-1!
The Panthers jumped to 2-0 lead in the top of the 1st, added 6 in the 2nd
and 8 in the third to put the game away. Everyone contributed to the great
team win. Kevin Hoy got the start and the win on the mound but ther Panthers
pitched a different pitcher each inning and everyone did well. Adam Houck
led the offense with three hits. Nice work, Panthers!
Varsity falls to Deer Park 11-2 and
College Park 7-5.
The Panthers were facing two of the best teams in the area on Saturday.
Unfortunately they just didn't bring their A game and the result was two
losses.
The Deer Park game started well with the Panther scoring two runs in the top
of the 1st, with RBIs by Garrett Scott and Jacob Bardon. But Nolan Bond just
did not have a good game, surrendering five runs (1 earned) in the bottom of
the first. He didn't get much help from the defense. Chris Kusman didn't
fare better, surrendering five earned runs before being relieved by Chad
Boudreaux. Part of this is that the Deer are just very good and part is that
the Panthers did not play well.
Photo gallery
Andrew Morgan had a rough first inning again College Park, surrendering five
runs. After that he was impressive, which is a good sign against a really
good team. The Panther managed to tie the game with three runs in the 4th
and 2 in the 5th on a big RBI by Alex Morriss. Garrett Scott had two hits
and Roberto Malinowski and Ryan Kasper one each. But the defense failed in
the 6th and final inning, allowing the Cavaliers two runs to seal the win.
Photo gallery.
Panthers, four years ago we had another highly talented team that, despite
not playing as strong of a non district schedule as you guys did, went into
district play 9-7-1. Then ended up being district champions and regional
finalists. So don't worry about today. Tuesday against Dekaney is what
counts. Right now we just need leadership and hard work. I'm betting we get
both. Beat Dekaney!
Panthers beat Oak Ridge 3-2!
Garett Scott broke a 0-0 tie with a home run in the 4th and Jacob Bardon
singled in another run in that inning. The War Eagles tied in in the top of
the 7th but Roberto Malinowski provided the winning RBI in the bottom of the
7th.
Tanner Lawson pitched the first two innings, Tristan Oakes the next four and
Garrett Scott got the win in relief in the 7th.
Since all
tournaments are cancelled this
weekend, let's look at some pictures from the last few weeks.
Apologies to our JV for not having any game pics yet. Your
photographer was weather thwarted. Beat Dekaney!
Varsity falls late to College Park 5-4
The Panthers scored four runs in the top of the 1st but then the bats fell
silent. College Park tied the game in the 5th and scored the winning run in
the bottom of the 7th.
Jackson Dietal - brought up from the JV - was the hard luck loser, giving up
one run on one error despite 2 Ks in one inning of work. Garrett Scott did
the early work on the mound - 4 runs on 4 hits, 3 Ks and 2 walks.
The Panthers outhit the Cavaliers but committed five errors and that's not
going to be good enough.
Conner Eddy had 2 RBIs on one hit to lead the offense. The Panthers get
another chance against the Cavaliers next week. Let's go Oak!
Sophomores, Ben Content, run rule Clear
Lake 11-1!
Ben Content was in command on the mound for all five innings, allowing just
four hits and no walks while striking out one. Great job, young man!
The Panthers scored four in the first to take command and then added four
more in the 2nd, 2 in the 4th and finished things with a walk off double by
Caden McMullen in the 5th. Caden led the offense with four hits and two
RBIs. Adam Houck had one hit and two RBIs while Drake Dalton has one hit and
two walks to help lead the offense.

Panther fans, this team is really impressive. Go watch them. The future of
our program is in great hands!
Varsity comes back to beat St. Pius 4-2!
The best thing about this game was Chris Kusman's pitching performance. It
couldn't have started worse, hitting the first batter, loading the bases,
etc. But Chris gutted up, found it, took command, and gave his team a chance
to win in a game in which the Panthers seemed uninterested most of the way.
Way to go, Chris! He ended up with 5 hits, 3 walks and 5 Ks over 6 innings,
which is pretty darned good, and it's huge for what it says about Chris.
Tristan Oakes finished the job on the mound, allowing just one hit in the
7th inning. Nice work, Tristan.
Roberto Malinowski was 3 for 3 at the plate and Conner Eddy brought him home
for the winning run in the 6th inning as the Panthers completed a comeback
from an early deficit.
Good teams find a way to win even on a day when motivation isn't at it's
peak and everyone is tired. The Panthers looked tired, but they won, and
that says a lot. Nice work guys!

Kevin Hoy leads Panther Sophs past
Woodlands 8-2!
The Woodlands announcer made a point of telling us that the Highlanders were
undefeated at 6-0. Apparently Kevin Hoy was not intimidated, striking out 5
of the first 7 batters he faced in the first two innings.
The Panthers platted three runs in the first inning to grab the lead, but
Kevin pleaded with his teammates to put some more runs on the board as
"three aren't enough." That was the only miscalculation he made; he didn't
need more than that, surrendering only two hits and three walks in six
innings, while striking out 10 of the previously undefeated Highlanders.
Coach Jay Darneal brilliantly switched pitchers, bringing on Adam Houck for
the 7th inning. Adam gave up 0 runs on 0 hits and 0 walks to secure the win!
[Coach Darneal told your reporter to make him look smart. :)]
Caden McMullen, Aaron Lynch, and Ryan Scofield all had multiple hits to
contribute the Panthers 10 hit total. Simply amazing performance
against a great opponent on their home field. We are so proud of you guys!

JV falls to Cy-Fair 4-2
Noah Tidwell took the tough luck loss on the mound, surrendering four runs
on seven hits, with 3 walks and 3 Ks in five innings. Hunter Evans led the
Panther offense with two hits.
JV downs Jersey Village 7-1!
Sam Campbell got the win on the mound. Hunter Evans and Bryce Gesner both
contributed two hits.
Sophomores fall to Klein 7-4
The Sophomore team dug a 7-0 hole before rallying but the rally fell short
despite Ben Content's two RBIs and Brent Morgan's two hits. Tanner Saul took
the loss on the mound.
Varsity over Huntsville 8-1!
Chad Boudreaux gave up one run in the top of the first then loaded the bases
with nobody out in the 2nd. But Chad extricated himself - with a little help
from his friends - from that jam. He was brilliant the rest of the way for
the complete game win. Nice job, Chad!
The Panthers tied it in the 2nd, then scored four in the 4th and three in
the fifth to complete the win. Rhett Tomberlin led the offense with two
hits.
Derek Rocka (2nd base) and Roberto Malinowski (SS) turned a nice double
play. Way to go Oak!
Photo gallery.
JV beats Cy-Creek 8-0!
Alek Arellano pitched a complete game two hitter with 4 walks and 6 Ks..
Nice work, Alek!
The Panthers scored two in the 2nd, three in the third, and three in the
fifth and final inning. Chase Cos had two hits and John Emerson three RBIs
to pace the offense. Great work, Panthers!
Varsity beats Cy-Falls 1-0!
The Panthers' Mitchel Howe scored the lone run in the top of the 6th but
that was all Tanner Lawson needed as he held the Golden Eagles to three
hits. Nice work!
Varsity falls to Cy-Fair 9-1
The Bobcats scored four in the 1st, three in the 4th and two in the sixth to
beat the Panthers. The Panthers managed only three hits and committed an
astonishing eight errors. Nolan Bond went four innings and took the loss for
the Panthers.
Better just put this one in the rear view mirror, Panthers. We believe in
you!
Varsity comes from behind to beat
Cy-Woods 18-12!
Cy-Woods scored 5 runs in the 4th inning to break a 4-4 tie, but the
Panthers answered with 14 runs in the 5th inning to get the win.
Conner Eddy lead the offense with 4 RBIs and 2 hits. Roberto Malinowski and
Rhett Tomberlin also added two hits to the eight hit Panther total.
Tristan Oaks got the win on the mound, pitching the final 1 2/3 innings
while allowing two hits and two walks.

The change is that the game scheduled for Thursday vs. St. Thomas at the

I'm assuming this is due to the weather forecast. Wise decision!
The change is that the Sophomore team is not really playing at 10 pm on Friday night. They are
playing at 10 am on Saturday morning. Sorry for the webmaster caused

The Panthers had a rough 3rd inning, surrendering five runs to fall behind
7-1. Trevor Gracey had a good outing in relief, holding the Falcons to two
hits, but the Panther comeback fell short in a game that was called in the
6th inning.
Conner Eddy led the Panther offense with two hits and an RBI.
Tanner Lawson's one hit gem leads Varsity
past The Woodlands 4-1!
As if pitching a one hitter wasn't enough the future Houston Cougar also put
on a clinic in fielding the position with several fielding gems, including
starting a double play. Simply amazing performance, Tanner!
The Panthers took advantage of some timely hitting and some Highlander
errors to plate two in the second and two in the third, then mostly watched
Tanner work.
Tanner apparently thought the game needed drama as he started the bottom of
the sixth with nine straight balls. A long fly ball and a fielder's choice
allowed the Highlanders to avoid the shutout but Tanner and his Panther
friends slammed the door shut.
A leadoff single in the bottom of the 7th spoiled Tanner's no hitter but
that was all they got. Jacob Bardon led the offense with three hits in four
plate appearances. Garrett Scott was 2 for 4.

The Panthers lost the second game to Foster 7-4 in a game that was delayed
an hour due to lack of umpires. Your reporter left before it started and it
wasn't scored in Gamechanger. So I don't have details.
Ryan Gryder had the Panthers only RBI as the Panthers had only two hits also
but that was all Noah needed to secure the win! Nice job, Noah!
JV loses heartbreaker to Collins 3-2
The Panthers scored two in the first inning but couldn't generate any more
offense. The Tigers tied it in the 5th and pushed the winning run across in
the bottom of the 7th.
Ryan Gryder had two hits for the Panthers and Jackson Dietel held the Tigers
to two runs through five innings.
Varsity falls to George Ranch 3-1
The Panthers took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first but surrendered two
runs in the bottom of the inning and couldn't generate any offense after
that as they fell to 1-2.
Andrew Morgan took the loss on the mound but held Longhorns to five hits and
two walks (with 2 Ks) over five innings. So that was a pretty good outing
against a very good team.
Game changes: The tournament
schedule has been changed for Saturday. The Panthers play at 1:30 vs. The
Woodlands and 4 pm against Foster. Both those
games are at "Scotland Yard" - the Woodlands home field at McCullough Junior
High.
Sophomores blast Concordia 6-0 but fall
to College Station 3-2.
The Sophomore team got the bats going on day two, scoring one in the first,
two in the second and three in the fifth to finish things against the
Crusaders. Nice job, Panthers!
Ben Content pitched a one hitter, with 0 walks and 8 strikeouts to get
Concordia off the board! Adam Houck led the offense with two hits.
In the second game the Panthers outhit College Station 5-4 but lost 3-2
after committing four errors.
JV Beats Bryan 6-2!
Alek Arellano struck out seven and allowed only three hits to lead the
Panthers by the Vikings at Klein. Alex Romero went 2 for 3 to lead the
offense. Way to go, Panthers!
Varsity splits a pair at Langham Creek
Nolan Bond held the host Lobos scoreless over six innings and the Panthers
scored six to get the season off to a fast start. Nolan allowed only two
hits while striking out four. Rhett Tomberlin had two RBIs on two hits.
Grant Ozarchuk and Garrett Scott both had two hits.
The Panthers jumped out to a 3-0 lead against Foster but the defense
and pitching wasn't up to the task the rest of the way as the Panther fell
behind 6-3 before J.D. Noey's RBI in the bottom of the 7th to bring the
final score to 6-4.
Sophomores tie with Clear Falls 0-0
It's tough to win if you don't score and the
Panthers didn't. But at least they didn't lose either. They become the first
team in KO history to have a record of 0-0-1.
Tanner Saul kept Clear Falls off the board with a
strong four innings of work, allowing one hit while striking out six. Let's
get the bats going, gentlemen!

Unfortunately the Panthers had one of those "if anything can go wrong, it
will" games against Concordia Lutheran on Saturday night, so the tournament

All of those responsible for the 2014 banquet, take a bow! It was really
great - from a tastefully decorated ballroom to a carefully planned agenda,
it was memorable and lots of fun.
This wasn't the year for our Panthers. We'll be back!! Can't wait until
February, Panthers! We have the pitching, defense and we'll develop the
offense to win our new district 15-6A. Get to work, Panthers!!!!!!
Meantime, congratulations to District Co-Champions Klein Collins and
Atascocita and 3rd place (tie) teams Klein and Kingwood. By virtue of
tie-breaker games on Saturday, Collins is the #1 seed and Kingwood the #3
seed. Best wishes to all of these guys in the playoffs!
Playoff schedule.
Next year our district will be 15-6A. We'll say goodbye to Kingwood and
Atascocita and welcome Montgomery.
Montgomery is in the playoffs this year after a 3rd place finish in
18-4A.
Varsity run rules Dekaney 13-0!
Nolan Bond got the complete game (6 innings) win on the mound, scattering
five hits while striking out six.
Kyle Lewis homered for the Panthers in the 2nd to get things going. The
Panthers broke it open in the 4th with 7 runs and finished things in the 6th
with four more.
Kyle Romaguera went 3 for 4, Cody Christmas 3 for 5 with a double, Roberto
Malinowski 2 for 3 with a double, and both Conner Eddy and Quinton Volovar
were 2 for 3.
Nice work Panthers! Way to finish strong!
JV pounds Dekaney 16-1 in five!
Tristan Oakes got the win going 3 innings, surrendering 0 runs on 0 hits ( 5
K's 3 BB's). Alek Arellano pitched the last 2 frames surrendering 1 run on 2
hits (3 K's 2 BB's).
Offensively the Panthers had 10 hits, 5 BB's, 4 HBP's. Alex Morriss
2-2 (double 2 RBI), Tucker Herzinger 2-2 (double 1 RBI), Chris Kusman
(double 1 RBI) and singles by Andrew Morgan, Chad Boudreaux, Jacob Bardon, ,
Zack Trelfa and Parker Stroman also had singles.
HRs by Jackson Dietel and Cameron Olson lead
Sophs by Dekaney in five, 13-2!
Jackson got his the old fashioned way, sailing the first pitch he took in
the 1st inning over the left field fence for 3 RBIs as part of a 7 run 1st
by the Panthers.
Cameron's was of the inside-the-park variety, plating Trevor Gracey for 2
RBIs as part of a six run 4th.
Mason Mozskowics got the complete (5 inning) win on the mound for the
Panthers, scattering two runs on 7 hits and 5 walks with 4 Ks.
Ryan Gryder and Connor Parkinson both had triples and Trevor Gracey had a
double.
Nice game, Panthers! Great season! The future of KO Baseball is in good
hands, Panther fans.
The JV played probably there best game of the year tonight and beat Collins
10-3 behind a very solid complete game by Andrew Morgan. Andrew was in
command of all his pitches tonight and pitched a very efficient game,
scattering 7 hits while striking out 10 and surrendering only 2 walks.
Collins did score 3 runs, 2 in the 2nd inning, but after that Andrew kept
their bats relatively quiet - great job Andrew.
Offensively, the Panthers came out swinging tonight and pounded out 12 hits
against the Tigers. Rhett Tomberlin 3-5 (single, double, triple - 1 RBI),
Alex Morriss 3-4 (double - 2 RBI), Jacob Bardon 3-4 (double - 1 RBI) and
Derek Rocka 1-3 (2 RBI) led the attack.
Nice job Panthers.
Varsity suffers 8-0 loss to Collins.
It was closer than the score indicates as Tanner Lawson gave the Panthers
six strong innings on the mound. They were still in it, trailing 3-0,
heading into the 7th. But Tanner was out of gas. A bases loaded triple ended
his evening and whatever slim comeback hopes the Panthers had. Cody
Christmas came on to put out the fire and notch the final two outs.
Of course you can't win if you can't score a run and the Panthers didn't. The Panthers did manage five hits -
against 8 for Collins - but didn't get a hit with a runner in scoring
position.
Trever Gracey took the loss on the mound for the Panthers. Jackson Dietel
came on for 2 1/3 hitless innings of relief.
Eduardo Malinowski, Connor Parkinson, and Alex Romero led the offense with
two singles each. The Panthers outhit the Tigers 7 to 5.
Varsity falls to Spring 1-0 despite Nolan
Bond's gem!
Well, this was apparently exactly like the JV game. Spring scored one run on
a sac fly in the 2nd but the Panthers - despite outhitting Spring 7-5 -
couldn't muster any runs.
Quinton Volovar did his part - going three for three at the plate.
Sophomores beat Spring 5-0 behind
Malinowski's two hit gem!
Eduardo Malinowski threw an amazing, complete game shutout, allowing just
two hits and two walks while striking out six. Great job, Eddie!
The Panthers scored two in the first - all they would need. They added an
additional run in the 2nd, 4th and 6th to seal the deal.
Noah Tidwell had a triple while Eduardo (2 RBIs) and Jackson Dietel both had
two singles to lead the offense. Ryan Kasper and Trevor Gracey also singled.
Nice work, Panthers!
Photo gallery.
JV falls to Spring 1-0 despite Boudreaux
mound gem.
The Panthers wasted another great pitching performance by Chad Boudreaux in
what was a pitchers' duel at Panther Field. Chad surrendered his first walk
in the 4th and that runner scored on a single to center field. The throw to
the plate was wide giving the Lions a 1-0 lead. Neither team threatened to
score after that.
The Panthers had one scoring opportunity - a leadoff hit in the 1st by Rhett
Tomberlin. He was tagged out at the plate (good call, by the way - no
controversy).
Jacob Bardon pitched five innings of no hit ball, and Jordan Hicks one, to
keep the Mustangs off the board.
The offense was sharp belting out 16 hits. Rhett Tomberlin, Sam Campbell,
Zack Trelfa, Billy Summers and Kameron Creager each had multiple hits.
Varsity downs Westfield 7-1!
Tanner Lawson got the win on the mound, surrendering just one run on 3 hits
and 1 walk, with 7 Ks, in 5 innings of work. Cody Christmas pitched 1 1/3
innings, striking out 3 of the 4 batters he faced - 0 runs, 0 hits, 0 walks.
Dillon Brown got the final two outs of the 7th inning - 2 Ks with 1 walk.
Collin Snider led the Panthers at the plate with a triple and a single.
Grant Ozarchuk, Cody Christmas and Garrett Scott each had a single and a
double.
Varsity game will be played Tuesday at 7pm at Oak as scheduled.
No sophomore game.
JV beats Atascocita 3-2!
The JV game featured a Pitcher's duel tonight with both Pitchers throwing
solid, complete games. Fortunately for the Panthers, Chris Kusman was a
little bettter tonight throwing a complete game 5-hitter, surrending 2 runs
on 5 hits and 5 strikeouts. Chris held Atascocita scoreless through six,
but after 2 back to back walks in the 7th, Coach Gomez had a visit with
Chris and stuck with him. Chris, ended up surrendering 2 runs, but rewarded
his Coaches' confidence by striking out the last batter to secure the
victory.
Offensively, the Panthers maximized their opportunities by scoring 3
runs on 3 hits in the 3rd inning. Parker Stroman, Rhett Tomberlin (RBI), and
Jacob Bardon ( 2 RBI) all had singles in the inning and that was enough
offense to secure the victory.
Varsity falls to Atascocita 3-1.
Nolan Bond held the Eagles to four hits and three walks while striking out
eight in six innings of work on the mound. The Panthers outhit the Eagles
five to four but could only manage one run in the second inning.
Gitting singles for the Panthers were Max Wright, Grant Ozarchuk, Collin
Snider, Roberto Malinowski and Garrett Scott.
Sophomores cruise past Atascocita 14-7!
The Panthers scored 14 runs on 10 hits over the four inning game while
Trevor Gracey and Ryan Gryder held the Eagles to seven runs.
Connor Parkinson led the Panthers at the plate with a single, a double and a
triple. John Paul Emerson added two singles.
Varsity beats Klein Forest 5-3!
Roberto Malinowski got the complete game win. After a shaky start - bases
loaded with nobody out in the 1st - Roberto did a fine job of limiting the
damage to two runs. After that he was in command the rest of the way,
surrendering three runs on six hits and two walks.
Quinton Volovar had a two RBI single in the 4th to give the Panthers the
lead. Max Wright was 2 for 3 at the plate. Collin Snider also had two
singles.
The Panthers took care of business tonight and shut-out Klein Forest 9-0
behind a strong effort from Andrew Morgan on the mound. Andrew threw six
shutout innings, surrendering 4 hits, 1 BB and 12 Strikeouts- great job
Andrew. Sam Campbell came on in the 7th, earning his 4th save of the season
by striking out 2 of the 3 batters he faced.
Offensively, the Panthers had 12 hits, highlighted by an inside-the-park HR
from Grayson Vance; Grayson also had a triple going 2-4 on the night.
Mitchell Howe (double, single), Rhett Tomberlin, and Derek Rocka also had 2
hits to help pace the offense.
Sophomores blast Forest 18-5!
The game was decided quickly as the Klein Oak Panthers Sophomore exerted
their will early with 17 runs in the first three innings. A passed ball, a
groundout by Noah Tidwell, and an RBI single by Cooper Ritz during the first
inning and an RBI single by Cade Phelan, an RBI single by Noah, a two-run
single by Cooper, and an RBI single by Ryan Gryder in the second inning
supplied the early offense for the Panthers. Connor Parkinson racked up two
RBIs on three hits. He singled in the first and third innings and tripled in
the third inning.
Cooper Ritz got the win on the mound, allowing four runs over three innings.
Cooper struck out one, walked two and gave up three hits.
Varsity falls to Kingwood 6-3.
Tanner Lawson took the loss for the Panthers, going the distance and
allowing six runs on 11 hits and 2 Ks.
Collin Snider led the Panthers at the plate with 2 singles. Kyle Romaguera
had a triple with 1 RBI. Saul Dealba had 2 RBIs on a single and two walks.
JV drops 8-5 decision to Kingwood.
Chad Boudreaux just had a really bad night, surrendering 7 runs in the 1st
inning. It happens, Chad. Keep your head up.
The good news was that Tristan Oakes had a really good night, impressive in
holding the Mustangs to one unearned run over the final six innings. Nice
work, Tristan!
The Panthers did hit the ball pretty well but stranded too many baserunners
in scoring position to make it count.
Photo gallery.
Sophomores fall to Kingwood 8-3.
The Panthers just didn't play well in any aspect of the game Thursday night
as evidenced by the five errors that handed the Mustangs at least that many
runs.
The Panthers did rally in the 6th and final inning, scoring all three runs.
But it was too little, too late.
Trevor Gracey led the Panthers at the plate, going two for three with a
single and a double for 2 RBIs. Chase Cos also had a double with 1 RBI.
Photo gallery. Your reporter realized, processing these pictures, that
our Panthers did make some really great plays, like Cameron Olsen's putout
throw from right field to the plate and a couple of great plays by Ryan
Kasper.

Panthers fall to Klein 4-2 despite a great defensive
effort.
It was a great afternoon for baseball at Panther Field. And the Panthers and
the Bearkats treated fans to a typically great Klein Oak - Klein game.
Unfortunately for the Panthers they just couldn't match the Bearkats prowess
at the plate. They had their chances with the bases loaded in both the 2nd
and the 4th (and with no outs in the 4th). But those two situations resulted
in 0 Panther runs. That was decisive.
Nolan Bond took the loss on the mound in a complete game effort. Despite the
Bearkats 12 hits Nolan really did quite well after a bit of a shaky start.
The first pitch was a base hit and Nolan walked the 2nd batter; both runs
scored to give the Bearkats a 2-0 lead. But then Nolan settled in and
certainly gave his team a chance to win.
He got a lot of help from some really outstanding plays by the Panthers,
including several put outs at the plate that kept the Panthers in it to the
last out. Quinton Volovarput on a clinic at the catcher position with those
put outs and also gunning down a runner at 2nd.
Saul Dealba led the Panther offense, going 2 for 3 - including a double -
and reaching three times. Connor Eddy had an RBI double in his one at bat.
Roberto Malinowski had an RBI single and reached 2nd on it.
Panthers, we're all really proud of this effort. Keep your
heads up, keep working hard, and have fun playing the game we all love.
Your fans will keep cheering because we appreciate you!
Photo gallery.
JV drops 3-2 decision to Klein in 10 innings.
Tristan Oakes got the start for the Panthers and went six strong innings,
surrendering only two runs in the 1st. The Panthers scored two in the 4th to
tie it. Chris Kusman came on to throw four fine innings of his own. The
Bearkats scored the winning run when a KO outfielder lost the ball in the
sun in the 10th inning.
Offensively the Panthers could only muster 5 hits with Mitchell Howe going
2-3 with a double, and singles by Alejandro DeAlba, Alex Morriss and Rhett
Tomberlin.
Still, nice effort, Panthers! Go get Kingwood next Friday at Panther Field!
Sophomores drop a heartbreaker to Klein.
Well, this is hard to take. Klein led 10-5 after five innings. But the
Panthers scored three in the top of the 6th and had runners on 2nd and 3rd
when the game was called due to the weather. The score reverts to the score
after 5 and Klein is credited with a 10-5 win.
Nobody would call that fair but it's a hard lesson in the rules of the high
school game. The game is official after four innings and you can't get
credit for runs scored in an inning when the opponent did not have an at
bat. So the officials made the correct call. Blame the weather. We
appreciate you for the comeback anyway, Panthers. Go get Kingwood!
Varsity defeats Dekaney 11-2 behind a great game by
Tanner Lawson!
Tanner allowed just one hit over six innings, with four walks and 11 Ks. The
two runs were unearned as the one hit came after the only two Panther errors
of the game. Dekaney also had just two errors; the difference was pitching.
Roberto Malinowski finished the game in the 7th, allowing two hits and one
walk with two Ks.
Offensively the Panthers had nine hits. Conner Eddy had a double and a
single to lead the effort. Max Wright, Collin Snider, Nolan Bond, Chess
Lopez, Dillon Brown, Kyle Romaguera, and Cody Christmas had singles.
Nice work Panthers. Thanks for grabbing the win on Teacher Appreciation
Night and thanks for taking time to recognize the faculty and staff. We
appreciate you. Now go get Klein on Friday!
Alejandro DeAlba got his 1st start of the season and went 4 solid innings
giving up 4 hits, 1 run and striking out 5. Sam Campbell came on to finish
things in the 5th and struck out the side.
Going into the fourth the Panthers were leading just 3-1, but a 4-run 4th
and a 7-run 5th allowed the Panthers the run-rule win. Derek Rocka had 2
singles, Sam Campbell had a nice pinch-hit double and singles by Jacob
Bardon, Alex Morriss and Grayson Vance was the offense.
Sophomores down Dekaney 5-0!
Brice Gesner had three RBIs, sparking the Klein Oak Panthers Sophomore to a
5-0 victory in seven innings over the Dekaney Wildcats on Monday at Dekaney.
Hunter Evans had a double and Cameron Olson had two singles.
Eduardo Malinowski kept the Dekaney Wildcats off the board during his six
innings of work. Eduardo struck out seven and allowed no walks and two hits.
Sophomores hand Collins
first loss behind Trevor Gracey's no hitter!
The Collins Tigers came in undefeated in
district but the Panthers were determined to end that streak. They did
so impressively in every aspect of the game, and against a Collins team
that is obviously very good.
Trevor Gracey's legitimate, 7 inning no
hitter was clearly the highlight and the most crucial ingredient. Trevor
allowed three walks, one of those scored on the only Panther error of
the night, so the score was 6-1. Trevor struck out nine, including the
final out to notch the no hitter. Congratulations, Trevor! None of us
will ever forget it, especially Trevor's brother Austin, who holds a
special place in KO Baseball history himself.
Dylan Singletary had four RBIs on two hits, a double in the 2nd and a single
in the 6th. Chase Cos had a big double also to get the Panthers offense
started in the 2nd. John Paul Emerson had two big singles.
Defensively, Ryan Kasper had an amazing game at 2nd base with five big
assists and Dylan Singletary and Jackson Dietel also flashed some fancy
leather for the Panthers. Great job, gentlemen!
Great team victory, Panthers! We're really proud of you! Keep it going!
Photo gallery.
Varsity falls to Collins 4-1 despite a great game by
Nolan Bond.
Nolan allowed only one earned run over six innings, with four hits, five
walks and four Ks. He also had the only Panther RBI on a 4th inning single.
You can't ask for much more than that but it wasn't enough to give the
Panthers the victory.
The Panthers managed only three hits, including one double by Collin Snider.
JV falls to Spring 4-2 despite Chad Boudreaux's
excellent effort.
The Panthers carried a 2-1 lead into the 6th inning behind an impressive
five innings by Chad Boudreaux. But Chad was clearly out of gas in the
dugout after five. He deserves kudos for even going back out for the sixth
but he just didn't have anything left.
Andrew Morgan came on in the sixth with the bases loaded and trailing 3-2.
He limited the damage to one more KC run - a great job. And somehow he got
out of a bases loaded, nobody out situation in the 7th without allowing
another run, which was amazing. Nice work, Andrew!
It takes something special inside to do what the Panthers did in the 7th
inning Tuesday night. In a must win situation and everything seeming to be
going against them, this team proved they are special. It's
the kind of team victory that just could change the course of what has been
a frustrating district season - until tonight, until that amazing 7th
inning.
One thing the Panthers had going for them despite trailing 4-2 was that
Collin Snider led off the 7th at the plate - definitely the right man at the
right time. He had to battle for it but Collin delivered a lead off double.
With Collin standing on 2nd and exhorting his teammates, they knew they were
in it.
Coach Hernandez chose to pinch hit Josh Fowler for Conner Eddy, and Josh
made his coach look smart with a single that moved Collin to 3rd. Saul
Dealba sacrificed Collin home. One out and the score was 4-3 with Conner
(reentered and running for Josh) at 2nd. Roberto Malinowski couldn't get a
hit - He'll settle for being the winning pitcher after two shutout innings
to close the game.
Coach Hernandez made another move, batting Kyle Lewis for Alex Fershtman.
What a great at bat by Kyle, battling with a two strike count and two out.
It ended with a double, Kyle standing with arms raised at 2nd, and the score
tied at 4. Chess Lopez entered to run for Kyle, promising to score on a
single. He broke that promise when Coach Hernandez had to hold him on the
subsequent hit by Quentin Volovar, but he was at 3rd.
"Speed kills" has to be Grant Ozarchuk's favorite phrase. Grant came in at
2nd when Roberto went to the mound. His first at bat resulted in a single as
Grant simply beat out the throw. Grant hit a ground ball past the mound to
shortstop and ran even faster this time, causing the Lion shortstop to make
a quick throw that went in the dirt. Chess scored the winning run and the
Panthers proceeded to mob Grant beyond 1st base. Tanner Lawson - the
Panthers starter who had an off night for him - got there first to grab
Grant in a bearhug. Go get Collins on Friday!
Thanks, Panthers, for giving your fans this unforgetable moment in time. We
are very proud of you.

night shots.
JV defeats Spring 6-3!
Tristan Oakes got the win on the mound for the Panthers going 6 innings,
with 8 k’s, 3 hits and 4 BB’s.
Alejandro De Alba had a single, double and Intentional Walk to lead the
hitting. The Panthers started out on top scoring 2 in the 1st with a leadoff
walk, a bloop double and 2 sacrifice flies ( Mitchell Howe and Grayson
Vance). In the 5th the Panthers got their 1st two batters on via a HBP and a
walk (Rhett Tomberlin and Derek Rocka), a well-placed sacrifice bunt by
Billy Summers put the Panthers in business and then a big 2-out, 2-RBI
single by Jacob Bardon put the Panthers ahead. In the 6th the Panthers again
were able to put the 1st 2 batters on via the walk and HBP (Alex Morriss and
Collin Durrett). Another well-placed sacrifice bunt by Rhett Tomberlin put
the Panthers in business again and then another 2-out, 2-RBI hit (this one a
double to the base of the fence in LF) by Billy Summers put the Panthers
ahead 6-3.
Sam Campbell finished the job on the mound in the 7th. Nice win, Panthers!
Sophomores beat Spring 7-6!
Jackson Dietel got the win on the mound for the Panthers, allowing just one
earned run on three hits, four walks and eight strikeouts over four innings.
Ryan Kasper led the Panthers at the plate with a double and a single.
Eduardo Malinowski added two singles.
Varsity blasts Westfield 11-0!
Nice work, Panthers! Nolan Bond deserves a lot of the credit for a great
five innings, allowing 1 hit with no walks and 7 strikeouts.Quinton Volovar
finished the job, allowing 1 hit and 2 walks, with 3 Ks, over two innings.
Great job, guys!
The Panthers had 15 hits. Dillon Brown is batting 1000 after knocking his
first pitch into the outfield! Josh Fowler, Conner Eddy, Nolan Bond and
Quinton Volovar had two hits. Collin Snider, Garrett Scott and Nolan Bond
had 2 RBIs.
Congratulations, Panthers! Keep it going! Go get Spring on Tuesday!
Photo gallery.
JV run rules Westfield 20-0 in three!
Great job, Panthers! Billy Summers got the job done on the mound for the
Panthers pitching the three inning shutout.
The Panthers got the scoring started on a bases loaded triple by Grayson
Vance in the first. Rhett Tomberlin had doubled to get the inning going for
the Panthers. Mitchell Howe, Andrew Morgan and Grayson Vance doubled in the
2nd. Collin Durett doubled twice in the 2nd!
There were lots of hits by lots of Panthers. The
highlight was a Grand Slam home run by Jacob Bardon! It was nice to see
Parker Stroman return to the field! Nice work, gentlemen!
Go get Spring on Monday!

Sophomores split a doubleheader vs. Brenham Cubs,
8-1 and 12-5
Any time you play the Brenham Cubs and break even it was a pretty good day
and it was for the Panthers.
Eduardo Malinowski dominated the Cubs on the mound in game 1, leading the
Panthers to an 8-1 win. All the Panthers were active at the
plate and contributed to the win. I hope to get details from someone who was
keeping score instead of shooting photos.
Photo gallery.
The Cubs turned the tables in game two with some outstanding pitching of
their own. The Panthers did manage 4 runs of 5 hits but that's not going to
win when you are giving up 13 hits and 12 runs. The Panthers did play well
in game two but the pitching wasn't competitive. Kudos though to Ryan Gryder
who came on at the end to prevent a possible run rule and did a fine job.
The Panthers had to score in the bottom of the 5th, facing a 12-2 deficit,
and they did. then Ryan shut down the Cubs. He had some help from nice plays
from several Panthers, including John Emerson and Cameron Olson. Still it
was too little, too late, as the Panthers fell 12-5.

Varsity falls to Atascocita 7-3
This was not pretty. The Panthers scored two in the bottom of the 7th to
make the score more respectable but, with the notable exception of Collin
Snider - 3 for 4 with a couple of great defensive plays - the Panthers just
are not performing up to their capabilities. Not even close. And that has
them really frustrated right now.
Panthers, we believe in you. Believe in yourselves, and in one another. Go
back to work, regain your mojo and go beat Westfield on Friday. We know you
can get this turned around.
Sophomores, Gracey, beat Atascocita 5-1!
Trevor Gracey was dominant on the mount for the Panthers in this complete 7
inning win! Great job, Trevor!
Obviously Trevor had plenty of help from his friends. Details to follow buy
your webmaster could use some help with that so
send me some
info!
Honestly your webmaster is at a loss to try to explain how arguably the most
talented JV team in KO history has a three game losing streak after
beginning with a great win over Klein.
The culprit is clearly the pop fly. As a team we've probably set a record.
It's a problem that has to get fixed, and these are just the guys who can
get it fixed and turn things around.
Chris Kusman did a fine job on the mound. It was a shaky start, allowing
three runs in the first inning but Chris wasn't getting much support behind
him. After that Chris and his teammates were stellar defensively.
Photos.
Varsity vs Atascocita postponed until Wednesday.
7 pm at KO
A message from KO Alum
Chris Thompson
Chris was a Sophomore pitcher on our JV when
he was told by doctors that he wouldn't pitch again.
Read some of his history. Two years
later he led us as our #1 to the regional finals. Now he's pitching for
the Lumberjacks. He's a great guy and an inspiration. Thanks, Chris!
Chis's SFA thumbnail pic.
Chris pitching vs Wichita State last week
Lots of sub-varsity game changes for this week.
The JV and and Sophomore Team games against Atascocita have been postponed
until Tuesday and, to accomodate a schedule conflict with one of the
Atascocita coaches (certainly understandable with all this juggling), the
times have been switched -
JV at noon
Sophomores at 2:30 (or at least following the JV
game)
The Sophomore games against
Brenham scheduled for Wednesday have been moved to Thursday - still a
doubleheader at 1 pm at KO. [This is really just in case we have to
move the Sophomore - and JV - vs. Atascocita until Wednesday.]
Varsity bests Klein Forest 9-2!
The Panthers were in a must win situation on Saturday afternoon at Klein
Forest. They got it done with 2 runs in the 1st, 2 in the 2nd, 1 in the 3rd,
2 in the 4th, and 1 each in the 5th and 6th innings.
Roberto Malinowski got the win on the mound with three shutout innings - 3
hits, 2 walks, 2 Ks. Garrett Scott was outstanding in relief -
no hits, no walks, 2 Ks.
Collin Snider was 3 for 3 at the plate with a double and two singles. Chess
Lopez had an RBI double.
Nice work, Panthers! Go get Atascocita!!!!!!!
JV falls to Klein Forest 6-4 in 8
The worst things to happen to the Panthers today were injuries to starting
pitcher Collin Durrett and Kameron Creager.
Both of them are going to be OK but could use our prayers for speedy
recovery. Collin injured his right shoulder, a shoulder the
Panthers will miss. Kameron got hit in the right eye by a ball coming off
his bat. It was scary for a while and he's going to look like the victim of
a one punch knockout during spring break. But he left the field under his
own power - albeit barely. And he refused to leave his team when the trainer
recommended rest at home. So he's just as stubborn as ever. Take care of
yourselves, gentlemen.
As for the game, the Golden Eagles earned the win. They played nearly
flawless, and noticeably enthusiastic, baseball and their pitcher was
outstanding in the complete (8 inning) game win. Congratulations to them.
The Panthers were - being very generous here - lethargic until the bottom of
the 7th. Then they tied it at 4-4. Unfortunately reliever Alek Arellano -
who had thrown three 0s on the board after a bit of a shaky start - couldn't
quite seal the deal. The Eagles got a 2 out, 3-2 count triple to score two
for the win. Sam Campbell doubled with one out in the bottom of the 8th to give the
Panthers a shot. [This is a correction. I initially said Billy Summers but
Billy's double was in the 7th, not the 8th.] Unfortunately they couldn't convert the opportunity.
Get back on the winning track on Monday against Atascocita, Panthers!
Photo gallery.
Sophomores blast Klein Forest 15-1!
The Panthers' experience advantage over the Golden Eagles was decisive as
they scored 15runs - 8 in the 1st inning and 5 in the decisive 4th -
on 13 hits and two KF errors to get the 5th inning run rule win.
Starting pitcher Mason "Magic Man" Mozskowics was dominant on the mound for
the Panthers - 0 hits, 0 walks, 3 Ks - through 3 innings. Ryan Schofield
allowed just one run on 1 hit and 1 walk while recording 4 Ks. Nice work,
gentlemen!
Hunter Evans and Ryan Kasper were 2 for 2. Ryan Gryder and Eduardo
Malinowski doubled. Ryan led in RBIs with 3 while Hunter had 2.
The Panthers got off to a great defensive start behind a nice effort by
Nolan Bond and some great defensive plays behind him. However the bats were
just as quiet in the early innings as they had been against Klein the day
before.
Kingwood led 1-0 heading into the fifth when Nolan ran out of gas. A total
of four runs (three earned) were charged to Nolan as reliever Josh Fowler
couldn't put out the fire quickly enough.
The Panthers fifth inning rally was fueled by a Grant Ozarchuk sac fly and a
Max Wright single but the Panthers couldn't get closer than 6-2. Josh Fowler
had a great sixth inning on the mound and Roberto Malinowski did a fine job
on the mound for the Panthers in the 7th.
It wasn't a good night. The Panther bats were too quiet; the Panthers had
more errors than hits. Four of the Kingwood runs came with two out.
Move on, guys. Go get Klein Forest.
Sophomores bats too quiet in 2-1 loss to Kingwood.
Jackson Dietel delivered a gem on the mound in six innings of work, allowing
two runs on six hits, but it wasn't enough to overcome the lack of offense.
The Panthers stranded the tying run on third in the top of the 7th.
Go get Klein Forest!
JV prevails in dramatic come from behind 5-3 win
over Klein!
It was a great game at Panther Field although it didn't start out that way
for the Panthers. One walk and two errors allowed the Bearkats to grab a 1-0
lead after one. They added one more run in each of the next two innings to
grab a 3-0 lead
The Panthers came to life in the 4th, scoring a run and then flashing some
nice leather and plating another run in the 5th to bring it to 3-2.
After a leadoff walk in the 5th Coach Gomez asked Derek Rocka to bunt the
run into scoring position. Derek executed a perfect bunt between the plate
and the mound near the 3rd base line for a single. It was Billy Summers'
turn to bunt and he dropped one into Derek's divit and the bases were
loaded. They didn't stay loaded for long as Mitchell Howe blasted a
double to clear the bases and give the Panthers a 5-3 lead after six.
Clutch!
Coach Gomez sent Chad Boudreaux back out to finish another gem on the mound.
But with one out and runners on 1st and 2nd he called for Sam Campbell for
the save. Sam decided to add some drama by walking the first batter on five
high pitches. (He got the obligatory strike call on the 3-0 pitch, somehow.)
Then, after a mound meeting with his friends, Sam struck out the next two
Bearkat batters in convincing - really convincing - fashion to set off a
memorable celebration by the Panthers. Clutch!
The Panthers wasted a gem on the mound by Tanner Lawson - 1 run on 7 hits, 2
walks and 6 Ks. The Bearkats lone run came in the bottom of the 7th.
The Panthers managed just three hits as they fell to 0-1 in district.
Regroup, Panthers, and get the bats going tomorrow night against Kingwood!
Sophomores fall to Klein 7-5
Your webmaster doesn't have a lot of details due to the early start of the
game but Noah Tidwell and Ryan Gryder pitched for the Panthers. And, as one
would expect from this team they battled to the last out. Unfortunately they
couldn't pull off the win. Turn the page, Panthers; go get Kingwood!
Good news! Trevor Gracey is doing better. All the test were normal except for a low white cell count. His temperature returned to normal today (Tuesday) so he may be able to return to school tomorrow. Thanks, everyone, for your prayers.
JV recaps from Cy-Fair ISD Tourny last weekend
KO 5; Langham Creek 4 - Chad
Boudreaux got the start and was not his usual self with his control in the
first few innings, but hung in there to keep the game close. The bats were
again pretty silent for the 1st couple of innings, but back to back 2 out
doubles by Alex Morriss and Collin Durrett got the team going. Andrew Morgan
came in to close the game out and did an excellent job of keeping the
Langham Creek bats silent.
Cy-Fair 6, KO 5 - Chris Kuzman
pitched a complete game, throwing 109 pitches, and should have been credited
with a win, but the usually strong Oak defense did not support him on this
night. The starting pitcher for Cy-Fair did a great job of keeping our
batters off balance through the first 4 innings, but the Panthers were able
to get to him in the 5th. The teams traded runs in the 6th and Oak took the
lead in the top of the 7th. In the bottom of the 7th, Cy-Fair loaded the
bases with 1 out. Chris induced a pinch hitter to hit a ground ball to
shortstop, but after getting the out and 2nd, a wild throw to 1st couldn’t
get the double play to seal the victory and allowed 2 runs to score and win
the game for Cy-Fair.
KO 11, Cy-Ridge 0 - The Panthers
batted around in the 1st and 3rd innings and run ruled an out-manned
Cy-Ridge team. Alek Arellano started and went the distance and did a good
job of frustrating the Cy-Ridge hitters. Billy Summers continued his stellar
job as the leadoff hitter, going 2 for 3 with a double.
Panthers defeat Kincaid 9-2!
The Panthers ran their non-district record to 6-3 with a 9-2 win over
Kincaid. They blew open a 1-1 game with a 5 run 2nd and added 1 each in the
3rd, 4th and 6th innings.
Jordan Hicks picked up the win with no earned runs, three hits and three
walks while striking out five over seven innings of work. Great job, Jordan!
Garrett Scott homored for the Panthers in the 4th on his way to a 3 for 3
performance. Way to go Garrett!
Congratulations, Panthers! Now go get ready for Klein on Tuesday.
Sophomores split a pair at Woodlands Tournament.
In the 1st game the Sophs committed 7 errors and allowed 8 unearned runs to
The Woodlands Highlanders. This is not a good team to be generous with and
it cost the Panthers their 1st loss of the season 12-11.
But the real story is that the Panthers made those errors early, trailed
11-3, and didn't wilt. They cut it to 11-6 heading into the 7th and then
tied it. Only a really great play by the Woodlands centerfielder prevented
an Eduardo Malinowski shot to the fence from giving the Panthers the win.
Eduardo also pitched a great game in this one and Alex Romero did a fine job
in relief. It's no fun to lose but the story of the game was the heart and
competitive fire of these awesome young Panthers.
Photo gallery.
Game 2 wasn't as close as the 13-7 score would lead you to believe as the
Panther dominated Clear Lake. Starting pitcher Cooper Ritz was awesome
through 4 but just ran out of gas in the 5th. With a nice lead Coach Burks
stayed with him but the Falcons plated 5 runs to bring it to 6-5.
Mason "Magic Man" Mozskowics to the rescue! Mason got the final out of the
fifth and held the Falcons in check for the final two stanzas as the Panther
bats exploded for another 7 runs to get the Sophs back in the win column!
Great job, Panthers! We're really proud of you!
Photo gallery.
Panthers best Huntsville 9-6!
The Panthers jumped out to a 6-0 1st inning lead and coasted to the win.
Weston Davis shut down Huntsville, allowing just two hits, no earned runs,
one walk and four Ks during three innings. Way to go, Weston!
Conner Eddy homored for the Panthers while Roberto Malinkowski had 3 RBIs on
two doubles. Great work, gentlemen!
Sophomores still perfect with 4-3 win over St.
Thomas!
It took the Sophomore team Panthers 8 innings to get it done, but they did!
Congratulations, gentlemen. That was clutch!
Catch this team in action twice on Saturday up the road at Scotland Yard at
10 am and 12:30 pm. Go Oak!
Panthers fall to Cy-Fair 5-1
This is one the Panthers would just as soon forget - and put behind them -
as errors and mistakes marred the effort. Of course there was also a really
good Cy-Fair pitcher involved.
What we don't want to forget was Roberto Malinowski's work on the mound. OK
Roberto would like to forget the solo shot HR he gave up but other than that
he was outstanding - 1 run on three hits, 2 walks and 4 Ks in four innings.
Nice job, Roberto!
Nolan Bond got the start but it clearly was not his typical night. He'll be
back; no doubts about that.
Photo gallery.
Panther fans: the score of this game doesn't reflect the progress of this
team in the last week. These guys battled
to the last out. The attitude was great. And that's huge. Your reporter has
learned through 25 years that it doesn't matter what happens in February.
What matters is the TEAM you have after February and I
really like this one!
Bring on March!
Varsity blasts Cy-Creek 14-2!
The Panthers had a big third inning to put a 4-2 game out of reach and get a
5th inning run rule win.
Cody Christmas got the win on the mound, going the distance and allowing
just two runs on five hits with one walk and six strikeouts.
Collin Snider had two RBIs, Kyle Lewis had a double and most everyone got in
on the offense. Well done, Panthers!
Varsity outduels Cinco Ranch 3-2!
This was a good game. The Panthers scored first but not until the bottom of
the 5th. Max Wright singled with two out then Grant Ozarchuck doubled to
give the Panthers a 1-0 lead. The Panthers added two more in the bottom of
the sixth but left the bases loaded to keep the game close at 3-0.
The Cougars got two in the top of the 7th but Josh Fowler got a two out
strikeout to end the game with the tying run stranded at 3rd. Whew!
Josh pitched four innings - the first three obviously scoreless - in relief
of Tanner Lawson who started the game with three scoreless innings of his
own. Nice work, Panthers.

JV bests Northshore 4-3!
This game was suspended and then called in the 4th inning with the Panthers leading 4-3.
Andrew Morgan started and scattered 3 runs over 3 innings. The bats were silent for the most part with only 3 hits, but some timely base running, hitting and execution allowed the Panthers to score 2 in the 3rd and 2 in the 4th.
Highlights were a double steal, followed by a ground ball to the right side by Alejandro DeAlba to score the 1st run and a sacrifice fly by Grayson Vance to knot the game at 2.
Sophomores down Northshore 4-3!
Ryan Gryder pitched three great innings. Unfortunately the Panthers surrendered three unearned runs in the 3rd..
Eduardo Malinowski and Cooper Ritz pitched the final two innings.
Dylan Singletary drove in Noah Tidwell in the top of the 5th so Eduardo gets the win and Cooper the save.
The Sophomore team is now 4-0!
JV is Klein ISD Tournament Champions!
Our Panthers defeated Collins 9-8 in the championship game Saturday night!
Congratulations, gentlemen!
Great pitching job by Chris Kusman gave the Panthers an 8-1 lead heading
into the 7th. Some timely Collins hitting and some Oak errors allowed
Collins to tie the game in the 7th. A diving play by Cameron Kreager ended
the inning to give the Panthers a chance at redemption.
Alejandro Dealba scored the winning run on a wild throw by the catcher in
the bottom of the 7th.

Varsity falls again to Cy-Fair 4-3
Cody Christmas went the whole way on the mound, surrendering 4 runs on 5
hits. The Panthers jumped to a 2-0 lead in the first inning but didn't
manage much after that.
Hang in there Panthers. We believe in you.
Varsity suffers first loss 8-5 to Cy-Falls.
Not many highlights except some nice plays from 2nd baseman Kyle Romaguera.
Overall the Panthers got out pitched, out hit, and out fielded. They just
looked a little flat.
Photo gallery.
Sophomore Team downs Tomball Memorial 3-2 and 10-1!
The rain restricted Westside Tournament turned into a double header for the
Panthers against the Wildcats.
Jackson Dietel pitched a stellar 7 inning complete game in game one to lead
the Panthers.
Noah Tidwell repeated that in game 2 and all the Panthers got active for the
offense to give the Panthers the 10-1 win.
Congratulations to our newest Panthers on a 3-0 first week of the season!
JV blasts Bryan 18-0 in game 2 of KISD Tourny!
Your webmaster would like some details from someone who has them but
congratulations to the Panthers!
Varsity downs Cy-Ridge 4-1 to move to 2-0!

innings with five strikeouts.

and everyone contributed to the win. Nice work, Panthers!

Unfortunately the Panthers season did end tonight
since Kingwood easily defeated Klein Forest. Klein defeated Atascocita so
the Panthers finish the season in a tie for 4th place. Atascocita advances
to the playoffs by virtue of having won both district games between the two
teams. Good luck to Collins, Klein, Kingwood and Atascocita in the playoffs!
Thanks to our five great seniors - Tully Dunlap, Matt
Szymczak, Dylan Rocka, Aaron Lawson and Luis Roman - for all the great
memories! We love you guys and we will miss you. Please join the alumni
association and make Klein Oak Baseball a continuing part of your life!
For all the younger guys next year starts right now.
It's up to you guys to make sure that we aren't on the sidelines watching
next year at playoff time! The good news is that we have a whole bunch of
great players who will compete for each spot in the 2014 Panther Varsity
lineup.
Sophomores blast Dekaney 23-1
No details on this one yet but the Sophomores finish
district with a 12-4 record. Very promising! Congratulations, Panthers!

Panthers fall to Collins 12-4
First of all, congratulations to the 2013 District
Champion Collins Tigers. They proved today that they deserve that title and
we wish them all the best in the playoffs.
This game was decided in the 3rd inning. The Tigers
led 3-2 but the Panthers loaded the bases in the top of the third. But the
Panthers failed to get even a single run across. The Tigers loaded the bases
in the bottom of the 3rd and ended up scoring 7, chasing two Oak pitchers in
the process.
The Panthers didn't quit but it was pretty much over
despite a Saul Dealba homerun and another Panther score. Nolan Bond at least
managed to prevent the Tigers from getting a run rule win with a good relief
performance on the mound.
Photo gallery.
This loss does not mathematically eliminate the
Panthers from the playoffs but the only way they can get in is if Klein
Forest defeats Kingwood on Friday (and the Panthers defeat Dekaney). That
would force a tiebreaker game. [A tie with Atascocita doesn't help because
they beat us twice.]
So, Panthers, lets just have fun playing baseball
Friday against Dekaney and enjoy what will likely be the final game of what
still has been a very successful season. We're proud of you!
Panther JV downs Collins 5-2!
Great job by Roberto Malinowski on the mound for the
Panthers with the complete game win!
Once again your webmaster can't trust his memory for
details about the offense. Those will be coming in the game report.
Photo gallery.
Great job by our JV team as they run their district
record to 11-4 and their season record to 20-6!
Panther Sophomores beat Collins 5-2!
Chad Boudreaux saved his best pitching
performance for his last as Chad was just brilliant for the first six
innings. Coach Penn was ready to send Conner Eddy out in the sixth due to a
rising pitch count. But Chad was so strong in the sixth that he earned a
chance to finish it in the 7th. That didn't happen - Conner got it done,
earning a save by inheriting a bases loaded 5-2 situation. Great job by both
our pitchers!
Your webmaster can't trust his memory for all the
contributions on offense but noteworthy was a 2 RBI double by Grayson Vance
that gave the Panthers a 5-1 lead in the sixth. Nice work, Grayson!
Photo gallery. Kudos to our Sophomore team on another great win.
These guys were 5-6-1 going into district play. They are 11-4 in the
toughest baseball district in the state. Impressive.
Panthers, Szymczak edge Spring 3-2!
Thanks to a truly great pitching performance by Matt
Szymczak - and a few key hits in the third inning - the Panthers kept their
playoff hopes alive on Friday night at Panther Field.
Matt recorded 9 Ks while allowing 4 hits and the lone
Spring run scored on an error. Great job, Matt!
The Panthers had six hits off great pitching by the
Lions Thad Lowry - 2 each by Collin Snyder and Saul Dealba and singles by
Quin Pasche and Cody Christmas.
Photo gallery.
The Panther win, combined with loses by Kingwood (to
Klein) and Atascocita (to Collins) leaves the Panthers tied for third (at
least in the loss column - Kingwood has a bye this week and so has one more
win). The bottom line is that the season comes down to the last two games.
The Panthers have to win both to get to the playoffs, and may still need a
playoff with Kingwood - or a three way with them and Atascocita - to get to
post season play. So we need everyone out at Collins on Monday at
4:30 to help the Panthers beat those Collins Tigers! Get it done,
Panthers!
By the way, after a disappointing 1-3 district start
our Panthers have won 9 of their last 11 games. Yes, we're very proud of you,
Panthers!
Sophomores beat Spring 4-1!
Parker Stroman was terrific again on the mound and the
Panthers flashed some fancy leather to record another impressive road win.
Outstanding job, Panthers!
The Sophomore team plays Collins on Saturday
at noon at KO. Go get 'em, Panthers!
No score yet on the JV game.
Panthers beat Westfield 9-0!
Aaron Lawson got the start and the win on the mound for
the Panthers. Kyle Fershtman came on and finished the shutout, pitching the
final four innings of the 7 inning game.
Collin Snider led the offense with four hits and Dylan
Rocka added three as the Panthers scored 2 in the first, 4 in the third, 2
in the fourth, and 1 in the sixth. Luis Roman led the team in RBIs with 4.
JV beats Westfield 14-4!
Details coming. Dillon Brown got the win on the mound
for the Panthers.
Alek Arellano got the win on the mound for the Panthers
and Grayson Vance did a nice job in relief. Grayson also had several strong
hits for the Panthers. Nice job, Oak!
It was the second consecutive Saturday afternoon road
game against a top state ranked opponent - last week was 5A #2 Klein - and
once again the Panthers came away with a win! Unfortunately this one won't
help in the playoff race but it was fun nontheless to get a neighborhood
rivalry win.
The Panthers struck first with a run in the first
courtesy of a Saul Dealba triple and a wild pitch. Tomball answered with
three in the 2nd to take a 3-1 lead. It wasn't the worst thing of the
inning, though, as Panther fans all held their breath as center fielder
Colin Snyder was flat on his back after colliding with the fence attempting
to make a diving catch. [Of course Colin got up, got the ball and threw a
strike to the plate before collapsing!] It took Colin a while to breath
again but he eventually got to his feet and stayed in the game.
In the third Max Wright led off with a single and then
Colin Snyder blasted a shot over the fence in the right corner to tie the
game at 3. [That's when we knew Colin was just fine!]
Tomball answered in the bottom of the third with a two
run HR to left to take a 5-3 lead. At that point Josh Fowler took the mound
in relief for the Panthers. Josh threw 0s on the board the rest of the game. Officially - 5 innings pitched with 1 walk,
5 Ks, 0 hits and 0
runs. Wow! Very impressive against these Cougars on their home field! Way to
go, Josh!
The Panthers won it with three runs in the top of the
6th. Dylan Rocka walked, Saul Dealba doubled, Luis Roman singled (scoring
Rocka and pinch runner Zach Hecht), Carter Robinson singled. Finally Nolan
Bond laid down a sac bunt to score Luis for the game winning RBI!
Photo gallery.
Panthers suffer 5-2 loss to Atascocita
Matt Szymczak was in command on the mound for the first
three innings, the Panther defense turned some pretty plays and the Panther
bats put two runs on the board in the first inning.
The wheels came off in the 4th inning as Atascocita
pounded out a series of hard hits and the Panthers missed several
opportunities to make plays to put out the fire. The Eagles scored all five
runs in the fifth. It was all they needed as the Panthers did not make
anything happen offensively after the first inning.
Aaron Lawson was once again amazing on the mound with
three relief innings in which he allowed one baserunner.
Sophomores and JV both get road wins at Atascocita!
Another nice performance by Parker Stroman on the mound,
with relief by chad Boudreaux, led the Panthers to an impressive 7-6 win. Way to
go, Panthers!
No details yet but the JV won 19-11. Congratulations,
Panthers!
Panthers get in gear late to down Klein Forest 13-4!
This was a lot closer than the final score would suggest
as the Golden Eagles hung in there through four with the Panthers clinging to
a slim 4-3 lead. Nolan Bond got the start and the win on the mound for the
Panthers before being relieved by Alex Fershtman in the 7th. Nice job by both
Oak pitchers!
The Panthers opened it up in the fifth with three
runs, then added three more in the 6th and again in the 7th. Nice work,
Panthers!
Go get Atascocita on Friday!
Panther JV and Sophomores beat Klein Forest!
The Sophomores won 19-0 in five innings. Nice return to
the mound performance by Chad Boudreaux and the Panthers took advantage of
numerous opportunities to score 19.
Photo gallery.
The JV won 10-1 in seven innings. They almost got the
run rule win but the Golden Eagles pushed across a clutch two out run in the
top of the 5th to extend the game. Still it was a great complete game
pitching performance by Weston Davis.
Photo gallery.
Nice job by both groups! Go get Atascocita on Friday!
Lawson leads the Panthers to 8-3 win over
Klein!
Wow! What a difference a couple of weeks make! It was
about two weeks ago that Oak's Aaron Lawson was joking with teammates about
losing a chance for his first pitching
appearance of the year. Today he took the mound and pitched a complete game
win over the state ranked 21-1 Klein Bearkats! Congratulations, Aaron! We are
very proud of you.
Of course Aaron got some support from his scrappy
bunch of teammates. Klein drew first blook with a solo HR in the first but
Luis Roman answered with his own solo shot in the 2nd. Luis was 3 for 3 at
the plate!
The Panthers took a 5-1 lead in the 3rd but Klein
answered with two in the bottom of that inning to bring the score to 5-3. It
was a pitching duel between Aaron and the Bearkat's reliever, Aaron Ford,
until the Panthers plated three insurance runs in the top of the 7th for the
8-3 final.
After two clutch wins this weekend the Panthers are
now tied for 4th place with Kingwood and perhaps Spring (depending on their
outcome today vs. KC). Game on! Go Panthers!
Sophomores down Klein 10-5!
Parker Stroman got the start and pitched a great game.
Shortstop Alex Morriss had a great game that was highlighted by his first
homerun as a Panther - 2 RBIs in the bottom of the first. The Panthers added
five more in the bottom of the 2nd and took that lead into the 6th.
Parker was running out of gas and the Panthers had a
couple of mental lapses in the 6th. [This Panther team in very talented,
athletic and smart. We'll match grade point averages with anyone! But
sometimes ....] Klein scored 4 - 3 on a HR - and Parker was replaced by Sam
Campbell. Sam did a fine job of righting the ship and the Panthers answered
with 3 runs in the bottom of the 6th to secure the win. Nice work, Panthers!
Photo gallery..
Unfortunately the Panther JV didn't fare as well. The
JV seemed flat all afternoon and fell to the Bearkats.6-1.
Photo gallery..
Szymczak leads the Panthers to 4-3 win over
Kingwood!
Matt Szymczak is one mentally tough young man. He's a
mighty good pitcher also. He needed all of that tonight.
Josh Fowler blasted a shot over the left field fence -
scoring Alex Fershtman also for 2 RBIs - in the 2nd. That should of have been
all the runs Matt needed. But it wasn't because the Panthers committed five
errors and the last two gave away two runs to tie the game at 3 in the top
of the 6th.
In the bottom of the 6th Chess Lopez reached on an
error by the pitcher on a hard shot back to the mound. Then Collin Snider
laid down a sac bunt to move Chess to 2nd. A clutch single to right by Saul
Dealba gave the Panthers a slim 4-3 lead going into the 7th. (Saul was 3 for
4 with 2 RBIs!)
A leadoff single made things interesting again but
Matt struck out Kingwood's leadoff hitter. Then the Panthers redeemed
themselves with a perfect double play to end the drama.
Photo gallery (including pre-game with little leaguers!).
The Panthers need another win tomorrow against the
Klein Bearkats. Game time is 2 pm at Klein. Get it done Panthers!
Unfortunately the sub varsity teams didn't fare as
well vs. Kingwood with the Sophomores dropping a 6-5 decsion (photo
gallery) and the JV
losing 6-3.
Drive a Ford for the Panthers!
Our final fundraiser for the year is the easiest one
ever.
Come to the KO South parking lot on Saturday,
April 13th between 9 am and 5 pm, take a short test drive of the
Ford (or Fords) of your choice, fill in a short survey form and the Baseball
program gets $20!
It's just that easy - fun and quick and profitable!
Our goal is 300 test drives for which Ford will give us $6,000! Thanks,
Planet Ford!
Drivers need to be licensed and 18 or older. And, of
course, no purchase is necessary.
Panthers beat Dekaney 8-0!
With a week before the next game (due to STARR testing
Monday - Thursday next week) and facing a must win situation, Coach Hernandez
elected to pitch the staff ace, Matt Szymczak. He did not disappoint, notching
nine Ks and scattering four hits. It's a good thing because the Wildcats had
some pitching also. Thanks, Matt!
The Panthers had 12 hits and also took advantage of 7
Wildcat errors but only had a comfortable margin after a three run 7th.
Kyle Lewis doubled and Dylan Rocka, Quinton Volovar,
and Max Wright each had two singles to lead the offense.
Photo gallery, courtesy of Ben Volovar!
Rest, recharge, and let's go get Klein next Thursday!
JV and Sophomores both get run rule wins over
Dekaney in the 5th!
The Sophomores won 15-0 behind the pitching of Parker
Stroman, with an assist from Alex Morriss in the 5th.
Photo gallery.
The JV won 11-0 behind the pitching of Jake Neaves,
with an assist from Quinton Pasche in the 5th.
Photo gallery.
Both teams did a nice job of hitting the ball and
taking advantage of opportunities to get the run rule win. Nice work,
Panthers!
Panthers fall to Collins 11-2.
Well, it turns out that Nolan Bond is human after all.
He has been amazing since he joined the varsity - and it's not hard to predict
that he will be again - but not tonight. Nolan surrendered two in the first
and two more in the 2nd before leaving, bases loaded, in favor of Aaron
Lawson. Those three runners scored, leaving the Panthers in a 7-0 hole.
Aaron did another great job in relief - just one
earned run charged to him - but got no run support. Give credit to a great
pitching job by KC's Jake Jarvis who kept the Panthers off the board through
six innings. The Tigers final three runs came in the 7th off of Josh Fowler.
The Panthers answered with two runs in the bottom of the 7th and had the
bases loaded before the rally ended with a double play.
Photo gallery.
So the Panthers have to put this one behind them and
move on. A win over Dekaney on Thursday will keep them in the hunt going
into the 2nd half of district play. We believe in you Panthers!
Panther JV downs Collins 9-6!
Steven Sizemore started and picks up the win for the Panthers.
Roberto Malinowski finished the game in relief.Weston Davis
went 3 for 4 at the plate. Congratulations, Panthers!
The Sophomores tied Collins 2-2 but it counts as a win
in the standings due to tiebreakers in place.
Photo gallery by Mrs. Eddy!
Panther varsity completes sweep of Spring with 11-2
command performance!
Collin Snyder set the tone for the Panthers with a
leadoff homerun in the top of the 1st.
Matt Szymczak was amazing on the mound for the
Panthers, deliveringnine strikeouts and exactly what the Panthers needed to even the district
record at 3-3 and get back in the hunt. Way to go, Matt!
All the Panthers got in on the offensive performance.
They broke it open in the 6th, exchanging a 3-0 lead for an 11-0 lead. Dylan
Rocka was 4 for 4, Quintin Volovar got his bat back in form, and everyone
contributed.
The Lions did manage two runs off Matt in the bottom
of the 6th to prevent the run rule. Josh Fowler came on in the 7th to close
it out for the Panthers! Great game, Panthers, and a fantastic team win!
Keep it going on Tuesday against Klein Collins!
JV beats Spring 7-5!
"Ninety percent of this game is half mental." - Yogi
Bera
What is most impressive about this group of young
Panthers is that they play the mental half so well. Starting pitcher Dillon
Brown had one of the worst games of his life - completely losing his control
for a couple of innings - before he suddenly righted the ship and found it
again. In the interim the Lions got some runs. But neither Dillon nor his
defense lost focus, so it was one or two runs rather than the six or seven
that most teams would have surrendered. Bases loaded and no outs - these
Panthers just keep their heads and make plays. Impressive.
Eventually Coach Gomez turned to Greyson Jackson. And
he was as usual - giving up nothing free. With Greyson making the Lions earn
everything they got, his defense flashing some nice leather behind him
(well, mostly) and all the Panthers taking advantage of what was available
at the plate, the Panthers recaptured the lead and won the game. Great game,
Panthers!
Well, gentlemen, where has this been all season? The
Panthers finally overcame the frustration that has plagued them this season
and showed how good they can be. And that is very, very good indeed.
Outstanding defense, timely hitting from quality at bats, and no sign of any
mental lapses meant a commanding win over the Lions.
Starter Chad Boudreaux got the win on the mound for
the Panthers. It wasn't his best game ever, nor was it the best game ever
for reliever Sam Campbell, but both battled through rough spots to keep the
Panthers in command. Nice job and a great team win! The future looks
brighter than ever.
Photo gallery.
Panthers beat Westfield 17-2 in five!
Westfield scored one in the first and held a 1-0 lead
going into the bottom of the third. The Panthers got the offense cranking
though, plating nine runs in the 3rd. Westfield got one back in the top of the
4th but the Panthers answered with 8 more in the bottom of the 4th.
Panther starter and finisher Alex Fershtman slammed
the door shut in the top of the fifth to give Oak the run rule win. Nice job
Alex!
It was a great night for shortstop Luis Roman. Luis
had some extra incentive with his father in attendance and Luis made him
proud with great play at SS, a double and a home run. Awesome, Luis! We're
all proud of you and happy for you.
Details coming. Congratulations, Panthers!
Photo gallery by Mrs. Eddy!
The JV beat Westfield 6-3. Details coming.
Congratulations, Panthers!
Panthers fall to Kincaid 6-5
Kincaid got one more run out of their 8 hits and 3
Panther errors than the Panthers got out of their 8 hits and 3 Kincaid errors.
That's pretty much the story.
There were two notable highlights for the Panthers.
Max Wright hit a home run; it's good to see Max hitting with power again.
And Aaron Lawson made his first mound appearance of the year (relieving
starter Kyle Buchanan in the 3rd inning) and made the most of it. Aaron
threw well and showed veteran savvy and considerable poise, keeping the
Panthers within striking distance.
Photo gallery.
The Panthers shouldn't be taking Westfield lightly at
this point; they have to get a district win on Friday. Let's go Oak!
Varsity schedule changes
The game time for the Kincaid game on Tuesday has been
changed to 5:30 pm.
The varsity will play Tomball on Saturday, April 13th
at 1 pm at Tomball.
Golf Tournament!
Monday, April 1st at Windrose!
We need players and sponsors.

Panthers lose a heartbreaker to Atascocita 2-1
The Panthers got another gem from Sophomore Nolan Bond,
who went 5 2/3 innings. Sophomore Josh Fowler finished it for the Panthers..
Unfortunately they did not swing the bats effectively. The only run came via a
homerun by Fowler. Josh went 2 for 3 and Colin Snyder was 2 for 2.
The Panthers fall to 1-3 in district play. It's gut
check time; leadership needed.
The Panthers have an open date in district so will
host Kincaid on Tuesday at 4:30 at Klein Oak. The next district game is
Friday night at KO vs. Westfield.
Sophomores, JV fall to Atascocita
Your reporter's observation is that playing 7 games in 8
days is not the best idea. Both these teams seemed a step slow - mentally and
physically - and both starting pitchers struggled. We probably shouldn't be
surprised by that under the circumstances. [Part of my observation is due to
the fact that I have merely photographed 7 games in that time period and I'm
exhausted!]
The JV lost 9-3. The Panthers dug a big 7-1 hole
early. Greyson Jackson came on in relief of Steven Sizemore and did a great
job of holding the Eagles in check but the Panthers couldn't muster enough
offense to catch up.
Photo gallery.
The Sophomores lost 8-2. Dylan Parks - who pitched
Monday despite being really sick - got the start and did a pretty good job
for several innings. Unfortunately reliever Chad Boudreaux - who had pitched
all but one inning of the game on Thursday and still volunteered to take the
mound - had one of those nightmare experiences in relief, giving up four
runs in the first inning. The time limit didn't give Chad an opportunity to
redeem himself. Forget about it, Chad. Thanks for your willingness to give
it a go on 24 hours rest. You're a warrier and we need that.
Photo gallery. (See also gallery - link below - from KF.)
Panthers, put these games behind you. We believe in
you and you have time to recharge with an open date on Monday! Photo
galleries to follow because there were still many moments to celebrate.
Varsity run-rules Klein Forest 14-4!
The Panthers played good defense, Alex Fershtman
delivered five solid innings on the mound, and the Panthers took advantage of
their opportunities at the end to get a six inning run rule win in the 6th on
Thursday afternoon. Nice work, Alex!
KF drew first blood when a leadoff walk scored. After
the walk, though, starting pitcher Cody Christmas got out of the first.
After two leadoff walks in the 2nd, though, it was time for Alex. With some
help from his friends Alex got the Panthers out of that jam. Beautiful heads
up throw from Quintin Pasche in left to Quinton Volovar to strike down a
runner at the plate!
The Panthers were crusing with a 7-1 lead in the 5th
before the one pitch Alex would like back. It ended up on the wrong side of
the left field fence to narrow the lead to 7-4. After that it was all
Panthers. The Panthers took advantage of walks and timely hits to get the run
rule win. Dylan Rocka led the way with 5 RBIs on three hits.
Photo gallery!
Congratulations, Panthers! Now go get Atascocita
tomorrow night (7 pm at Atascocita).
JV run rules Klein Forest 23-3 in 5!
Complete game win by Dillon Brown. Details to follow.
Sophomores run rule Klein Forest 13-0 in 5!
Chad Boudreaux got the win on the mound for the
Panthers. Details to follow.
The Panthers seemed a little flat on Tuesday afternoon
at Kingwood. Perhaps the effect of a week without a game or perhaps the new
environs which made it seem strange for a district game?
The Panthers did strike first, scoring one run in the
first inning. But then the Mustangs answered with two in the first and four
more in the 2nd. That undoubtedly was deflating since these guys have been
spoiled with Matt Szymczak's ability to keep even the best opponents in
check. This however was not Matt's day.
Josh Fowler did an excellent job in four innings of
relief but the Panthers weren't able to mount much of an offensive threat
until the 7th inning. They loaded the bases and brought the tying run to the
plate with one out. But a strikeout and ground out to first ended the game.
Photo gallery.
The Panthers are undoubtedly aware that two years ago
our varsity started 1-2 before claiming a district championship and a
regional finalist title. But the Panthers desperately need to get that first
win against Klein Forest on Thursday at 2 pm at Panther Field! Stay focused
and positive, Panthers. We believe in you!
JV continues run with 5-2 win over Kingwood!
Roberto Malinowski was brilliant on the mound for the
Panthers. He had a shutout going with 2 outs in the 7th. Unfortunately the
Panthers muffed a couple of chances for the third out and, not surprisingly,
that resulted in allowing the Mustangs a couple of runs. But it didn't detract
from Roberto's mound gem. Nice work, young man!
It did give Kasey Arnst the opportunity for the play
of the game. The Panther SS dove for a ball, got it in his glove and fired a
perfect strike to Steven Sizemore at 1st base to record the final out. Great
play, Kasey!
Steven Sizemore had an RBI single in the 4th (scoring
Derek Rocka, who had walked) to break up the pitcher's duel. In the 6th,
Kasey Arnst and Grant Ozarchuk walked, followed by an RBI single by Derek
Rocka. Jordan Hicks walked and Steven Sizemore slammed a hit to left for 2
RBIs. Chess Lopez added another RBI hit to left, scoring Jordan.
Great job, Panthers! You've got to love this team -
selfless, coachable, confident and aggressive. Great people, great role
models, great Panthers! Thanks, guys, for making us very proud.
Photo gallery.
Sophomores fall to Kingwood 9-1.
There's just not much positive to say about this game
except that it's over.
Panthers, the talent is definitely there but right now the attitude is
noticeably lacking. Compete! You'll be amazed at what happens. We definitely
believe in all of you!
JV slams The Woodlands 13-5!
The Panthers closed out The Woodlands Tournament in
style with a 13-5 win over the host Highlanders!
Chess Lopez got the start on the mound for the
Panthers but the Panthers dug themselves an early 3-0 hole so reliever Grey
Jackson got the win as the Panthers exploded for 2 runs in the 3rd, 6 in the
4th and 5 in the 5th before the game ended on the two hour time limit with
the Panthers still batting in the 5th. [The Panthers were the "home team" in
the game.]
Every Panther contributed to this great team victory!
Congratulations, Panthers!

JV grabs a pair of wins on Friday!
After falling to Klein 8-3 on Friday the Panthers
defeated Bellaire 18-8 and Tomball 6-5 on Friday. Congratulations, Panthers!
The final game of The Woodlands tournament is Saturday
at 10 am versus The Woodlands.
Sophomores defeat Westfield in KISD
Tournament!

Panthers fall to Klein 2-0
Matt Szymczak gave the Panthers a chance to win with six
solid innings, and Nolan Bond finished it in fine fashion in the 7th. However
the night belonged to Bearkat pitcher Sam Odom (I hope I got that name right.)
who threw a brilliant one hitter.
The sole Panther hit was a single by Quin Pasche in
the 5th; they did manage a few walks and a Bearkat error resulted in the
only inning with two baserunners for the Panthers. But the Panthers couldn't
capitalize on that solitary opportunity.
Photo gallery.
The Panthers will regroup and get back to work to get
ready for next Tuesday's critical game against Kingwood. We believe in you,
Panthers!
Sophomores & JV fall to Klein 7-6.
The Sophomores played well but had a bad 6th inning,
surrendering 3 runs which proved the difference.
Photo gallery.
The JV fell by the same score. Details coming.
Panthers defeat Oak Ridge 6-5!
Sophomore Josh Fowler collected the win on the mound for
the Panthers with another strong outing.
The Panthers loaded the bases in the first three
innings but settled for one run in the first, two in the second and three in
the third. With Josh throwing 0s on the scoreboard the Panthers were
coasting with a 6-0 lead heading into the 5th.
But the War Eagles got things going with three
consecutive doubles to start the 5th and put three runs on the board. Josh
got out of the 6th without further damage. Ridge added two more in the 7th
to make things exciting before Nolan Bond fielded a ground ball at short and
made a nice throw to Cody Christmas at first to end the drama.
Photo gallery.
The Panthers take a 7-2-1 record and a six game
winning streak into Tuesday's first district game against Klein. Of course,
now everyone is 0-0. The game is
7pm at Klein Oak. Be there!
Sophomores beat Clear Lake 13-7!
Alex Morriss got the win on the mound for the Panthers.
Alejandro Dealba and Conner Eddy came on in relief for our very tired group of
Panthers.
The Panthers jumped all over the Falcons at the
beginning to take the game out of doubt.
Nice job, Panthers. Go get Klein on Monday!
JV finishes CFISD Tourney with 6-1 win over Jersey
Village!
Steven Sizemore collected the complete game win on the
mound for the Panthers, allowing 0 earned runs with 5 Ks and 3 hits!
The Panthers collected 4 singles by Weston Davis,
Steven Sizemore, Gray Jackson and Jacob Barton. Nice work Panthers!
The JV plays Klein Monday night at 7 pm at KHS. Let's
go Oak!
JV wins a pair in Cy-Fair ISD Tournament!
Panthers 22, Cy-Ridge 4
Tanner Britt got the complete game win, allowing 5
hits. Nice work, Tanner!
Roberto Malinowski's HR highlighted a 17 hit
performance by the Panthers. Chess Lopez, Grant Ozarchuk, Steven Sizemore,Casey Arnst
and Tanner Britt also had extra base hits.
Panthers 3, Langham Creek 2
Kyle Romaguera pitched a great, 7 inning 1 hitter!
Grant Ozarchuk had single in third. Chess Lopez had
an rbi single in 3rd. Weston davis broke tie in 5th with rbi single.
Chess Lopez had an rbi in 6th, scoring 3rd and final run for the
Panthers.
Great work Panthers!
Panthers conquer Cy-Creek 11-2!
Nolan Bond got the complete game win on the mound for
the Panthers in his second varsity start - and win! The Panthers scored five
in the first to set the tone and didn't look back. Congratulations, Panthers!
Sophomores have 1-2 start in Woodlands Tournament.
The Sophomore team came from behind to beat A&M
Consolidated 5-3 in game one, fell to Klein 10-0 in game 2 (surrendering 8
runs in the 7th in what was a close game to that point), and fell 9-7 to The
Woodlands in game three on Friday.
Panthers begin KISD with 3-0 win over Kincaid and
8-1 win over Mayde Creek!
In game one the Panthers plated one run in the first and
that's all Panther pitcher Cody Christmas needed as Cody threw a pretty,
complete game 2 hitter to beat the Falcons.
However Luis Roman decided to give Cody some breathing
room by slamming one over the left center field fence in the bottom of the
sixth. 2 RBIs for Luis, as Quin Pasche was on third - running for Saul
Dealba who had singled earlier.
Photo gallery.
Kyle Buchanan took the mound in game two against the
Mayde Creek Rams. "Buch" delivered with six great innings, allowing only a
single run and earned the win. Dillon Brown finished things on the mound for
the Panthers in the 7th.
The Panthers stepped up to the plate offensively as a
team against Mayde Creek. Lots of contributions across the lineup. It was a
great team win!
Nice work, Panthers!
JV suffers first loss against Cy-Woods 5-2.
Roberto Malinowski pitched the complete game for the
Panthers, allowing three earned runs - all in the 1st inning - striking out 7
and allowing 7 hits.
The Panthers scored twice in the 3rd on singles by
Kyle Romaguera and Grant Ozarchuk but the offense fell silent after that.
Panthers celebrate Senior Night with a 2-0 win over
Northshore!
Senior Matt Szymczak took the mound on Senior Night and
led the Panthers to a shutout victory. With batterymate Quenton Volovar (it's
about time we gave that guy some well deserved credit) they kept the Mustangs
off balance all evening. Matt got the complete 7 inning game win!
When the Mustangs did get a baserunner it usually
wasn't for long as the Panthers turned three beautiful double plays - two of
them starting with Szymczak himself doing a great job fielding the position.
Add to that a couple of great plays by shortstop Luis Roman, another by 3rd
baseman Saul Dealba, a great leaping catch on the wall by left fielder Max
Wright, and an amazing gunning down of a baserunner from deep right center
by Zach Heckt and you have a mighty impressive leather flashing display by
this young group of Panthers! Kudos also to our great coaching staff!
It's a good thing too because Northshore's Ricki
Salinas is the real deal, despite being the hard luck (also complete game)
losing pitcher tonight. He is every bit as good as advertised - just ask any
of our Panther batters.
Congratulations Panthers on another great win! And
thanks to Seniors Matt Szymczak, Aaron Lawson, Dylan Rocka, Tully Dunlap and
Luis Roman for all of your efforts and time making Klein Oak Baseball one of
the best programs anywhere. We are very proud of you.
Parker Stroman was the winning pitcher and Alejandro
De Alba came on in relief. They surrendered one run on two hits. Offensively
the Panthers had 18 runs on 18 hits (5 doubles). Nice work, Panthers!
JV downs Northshore 8-4!
The Panther JV ran their season record to 3-0 Tuesday
night.
Chess Lopez pitched 5 innings, striking out 6 while
allowing 2 runs on 3 hits. Jake Neaves closed it out in the 6th allowing 2
runs on 2 hits.
The Panthers were held to 4 hits, including a double
by Steven Sizemore, but took advantage of their opportunities to get the job
done.
Panthers beat defending State Champion Cy-Ranch 7-6!
Nolan Bond was spectacular on the mound for five innings
in his first varsity appearance. Courtesy of a Josh Fowler 3 RBI home run the
Panthers had a 7-1 lead going into the bottom of the 6th and final inning.
Good thing too because the defending state champs weren't finished.
Nolan got the first out of the 6th but also
surrendered two home runs to bring the score to 7-4. Alex Fershtman made his
third mound appearance in three days, recording the 2nd out but also
allowing a run. Collin Snyder came in from center field to the mound. He
also surrendered a run to bring the score to 7-6. But with the Mustangs with
two runners in scoring position Collin cam up clutch with a big strikeout to
end the drama. Whew!
Tuesday night is Senior Night at Panther Field. Come
on out and help us honor our five seniors before the game! Game time is 6
pm.
JV sweeps doubleheader against Clements 6-5 and 11-1!
In game one Steven Sizemore went an impressive 6 2/3 innings for the Panthers
before giving way to Jake Neaves. Jake wasted no time slamming the door shut
with a three pitch strikeout. Nice job gentlemen!
Offensively the Panthers had to overcome a 3-0
Clements lead. They had 10 hits and no walks; Grant Ozarchuk had a double.
Photo gallery.
In game two Roberto Malinowski pitched all five (run
rule) innings allowing only one earned run and striking out seven. Everyone
contributed the the offensive total of 8 hits and 8 walks. Nice work,
Panthers!
Correction to schedule:
The JV plays Northshore on Tuesday night at Northshore.
Panthers tie A&M Consolidated 3-3
Cody Christmas took the mound against the powerful
Consolidated Tigers and had a great outing. More good news for the Panthers as
this scrappy bunch gets some varsity experience and prepares for district
play.
Despite a tie breaker inning the Panthers couldn't
break the tie but they didn't blink either. Keep working, guys, it's coming
together!
Panthers drop a heartbreaker 6-5 at Cy-Fair
This one is hard to take, especially for Josh Fowler,
but there were a whole heaping bunch of positives to console the Panthers.
For five innings the Panthers outplayed the Cy-Fair
Bobcats. There were a few easily correctable mistakes but the defense was
outstanding, the Panthers maximized their opportunities at the plate, and
Josh Fowler commanded the mound in impressive form.
The Panthers had come from behind to tie the game at
3, then took a 5-3 lead in the 4th. Josh got the 9, 1 and 2 hole hitters
1-2-3 in the fifth.
But the Panthers let an opportunity to blow the game
open in the top of the 6th go by without a run. Then in the bottom of the
6th and final inning a (really tough) error and a home run tied the game at
5. After one out a walkoff HR ended it for the Bobcats.
That's the toughest way to lose. It's clear though
that these Panthers have everything it takes to win at this level except
varsity experience. Sometimes that is painful; it was tonight. But we are
proud of you, Panthers!
The Panthers defeated Lamar Consolidated 7-2 in the
season opener for the Panthers and the first game of the Cy-Fair Tournament.
The winning pitcher was Matt Szymczak and Kyle
Fershtman had two fine innings in relief. It was a great team win with lots
of Panthers contributing offensively and defensively for the win.
Congratulations, Panthers!
Unfortunately the Panthers dropped the 2nd game of the
day to Cy-Falls 12-4.
The Panthers will be back in action on Friday at 2:30
at Cy-Fair. Let's go Oak!
We still need volunteers to shoot JV and Varsity games. If you are willing, please
send the
webmaster a
note!
1st Annual Alumni Game Day!
Wow! What a great day!
Thanks to everyone who came and made this a day
none of us will ever forget! We can't wait for next year and getting
even more alums involved!
Special thanks to Coach Dale Westmoreland and
Coach Bo Hernandez. Without Coach Westmoreland KO
Baseball as we know it would not exist and we just wouldn't have
been there today. Coach Hernandez's vision from the moment he became
our head coach included what happened today - a celebration of those
people who built KO Baseball.
Great job, Michele Snider for spearheading the effort to make this
first Alumni Game happen and to all the other booster club and
Diamond Girls members who made today happen! You are awesome!
