Oak Topples Tomball 7-3 in District Opener!
March 14, 2008
Winning pitcher Chase Barnett went the distance tonight
with six strikeouts in seven innings in our district opener at Tomball’s
home field. Tomball out hit the Panthers tonight, but defensively Oak
stopped the Cougars.
Klein Oak’s defense had four outstanding double plays
tonight. In the first inning, a 6-4-3 (Scott Arthur to Wes Theiss to Ethan
Carnes). In the second inning Kaleb Goodell grabbed a fly ball in center
field and then threw out the Cougar runner who didn’t tag at second base. In
the third inning, we had another infield double play 4-6-3 (Theiss to Arthur
to Carnes). In the fifth inning, our final double play 5-4-3 (Austin Jackson
to Theiss to Carnes). Barnett ended the night with two huge strikeouts in
the seventh inning.
Offensively, Oak took advantage of several Tomball
errors. Scott Arthur had a single to center with two RBIs, Kaleb Goodell had
a double to center and two RBIs, Wes Theiss had a single shot through second
to right field, Andy Wilson had two bunts that went down as hits, and big
Ethan Carnes had two singles and an RBI.
Great job tonight Panthers!! Let’s keep our winning streak going in district!
