Panthers Lose by 1 to Collins in Pitching Duel
March 28, 2008
We wanted to win this one for Ethan
Carnes, but “E”, you’d have been proud!!
Starting Pitcher Garrett Harrison had
his first outing for the season and was quite impressive
giving up only three hits to the tough hitting Collins team.
Tonight the Panthers defense was solid.
In the first inning, the KC leadoff batter flew out to
second baseman Wes Theiss. The second out came with a huge
catch in centerfield by Kaleb Goodell, and the final out was
an unassisted play by first baseman Ryan Kizer.
In the second inning,
In the third inning the first batter
was HBP, the second batter bunted to advance the runner to
third. On the next play, catcher Manning attempted to throw
out the runner stealing second sending the runner at third
home, but short stop Scott Arthur quickly threw him out at
the plate; the runner missed the plate and Manning made the
tag. The next batter was HBP to put runners at first and
second, but Collins hit into another double play when third
baseman Austin Jackson made an unassisted forced out and
then threw out the batter at first.
In the fifth inning Oak had one error
that allowed a base runner. Then two Collins doubles put
Collins ahead of the Panthers 2-1. Ryan Harris came in as
relief and shut Collins down striking out the first batter
he faced to end the inning. Harris had a three up three down
inning in the sixth. Collins first batter hit right back at
Harris who threw him out at first. The second batter flew
out to Goodell in center and Arthur took care of the third
batter and threw him out at first.
Good luck Ethan with your surgery on Monday! We love you and wish you a speedy recovery!!
