Oak Takes Forest 13-1 in Five Innings!

March 20, 2008

Ryan Harris was the winning pitcher tonight giving up only one hit to Klein Forest in four innings. Chase Barnett was the closing pitcher.

1st Inning: Harris pitched to three batters in the first inning. The first batter walked but quickly found himself in the dugout when the second batter hit into a double play 6-4-3 (Scott Arthur to Wes Theiss to Ethan Carnes). Harris struck out the third batter. Oak’s only hit in the first inning was a Theiss single to third. No runs scored.

2nd Inning: Harris had another three up, three down inning. The first batter flew out to Garrett Harrison in right field. The second batter was thrown out by third baseman Austin Jackson to Carnes at first. Harris struck out the third batter to end the inning. Ethan Carnes was the first runner on base in the second inning for Oak with a double to center. Austin Jackson doubled to center and earned an RBI scoring Carnes. The next two Oak batters were retired.

3rd Inning: Harris faced four batters this inning. The first batter walked; Harris threw out the next batter who bunted. The base runner advanced to third on a throwing error from 2 to 3, but that’s as far as he would go. Harris struck out the next batter. Theiss was responsible for out number three when he fielded a grounder and tossed it over to first baseman Carnes. Offensively, Oak had four runs in this inning. Scott Arthur led off the inning and was called out after getting on first; the umpire said he stepped out of the batter’s box (there was no line there…hmmmm??). Kaleb Goodell doubled to center. Theiss walked. Harrison hit to short scoring Goodell. Andy Wilson doubled to left field scoring Theiss and Harrison. Jackson singled to score Wilson.

4th Inning: Harris pitched to four batters. The first batter got the only KF hit of the night. The next batter flew out to Harrison in left field. The next two batters grounded out to shortstop Scott Arthur, but the KF runner scored. Klein Forest changed pitchers when Oak came up to bat. Goodell singled to center and scored on single from Theiss for our only run this inning.

5th Inning: Chase Barnett came in for Oak as the closing pitcher. Barnett had a three up, three down inning. The first batter went down looking. The second batter grounded out to first baseman Ryan Kizer, and the third batter was thrown out by Jackson to Carnes. Offensively, Oak scored seven runs. Jackson started off the inning with a walk and advanced to third on a passed ball. DH Brent McMinn singled to third. CJ Manning bunted on a squeeze play to score Jackson and then managed to get all the way to third with a throwing error at first, which also allowed McMinn to score. Ryan Kizer was the DR for Manning and scored on a passed ball. Goodell singled to center, Theiss walked, and Harrison tripled to score both Goodell and Theiss. Carnes doubled to right field and scored Harrison; Carnes scored on a passed ball for the final run of the game.
