The Sophomores had a disappointing loss Monday against
Spring High School coming up with an uncharacteristic single
run to loose 5-1.
Chris Thompson took the mound for Oak and allowed only 2
hits in the first two innings which the Panther defense took
charge of and kept from scoring. A great throw by catcher
Graham Lange caught one of the Lions stealing in the second
and both teams entered the third scoreless.
Oak left their third runner stranded in as many innings as 2
strike outs and a pop up ended Oak's chances of scoring in
the 3rd. The Lions came back strong in the bottom of the
inning as the Lions started off with a huge double that put
their first runner in scoring position. A couple walks and
another RBI single by the Lions put them up 2-0 going into
the 4th.
A quick 1-2-3 4th for Oak brought up the Lions again and
some well placed singles loaded the bases for Spring. An
RBI single for the Lions scored one and then Jacob Fowler
came in to pitch for Oak with 2 on and 2 outs. An RBI
single scored two more for Spring and a great throw by
Graham Lange to second produced the third out as the
runner tried to stretch his hit to a double. Oak went into
the 5th down 5-0 where they again left 2 on base and
produced no runs.
Two popups to the outfield and a strikeout left two Lions on
base in the 5th and Oak had a 1-2-3 inning again in the
6th. Only one Lion runner got on base in the 6th as the
Panther defense combined with Fowler's 2 strikeouts and kept
Spring scoreless in the 6th. Oaks only run came in the top
of the 7th with bases loaded and a single by Cody Emerson
scored Steven Butler before the Lions retired the side.
Let's string together some of those hits against Collins!
