It was a true pitcher's duel
tonight as both Klein Collins and Oak relied heavily on
their defense to keep the score low; but in the end, the
Sophomore Panthers took the win 2-1 over the Tigers.
Both teams gave up with only
3 hits apiece for the night with JP Phillips starting on
the mound for Oak going 5 complete innings. Zach Shulze
closed out the final two innings throwing to only 6
batters. The Oak defense made us proud! The game came
down to routine plays and a few awesome moments.
Tyler Williams started in right field tonight and made 3
catches and an infield play that accounted for 4 of the
outs tonight. Zach Schulze, Travis Arthur, Matt Sloan
and Jacob Fowler showed their usual dependability making
the plays look easy and catcher Graham Lange threw out 2
Tigers trying to steal. However, the highlight reels
tonight are from Will Hoffmans' laid out catch in right
field and JP Phillips dive off the mound catch in the
top of the 4th that brought the crowd to their feet.
Offensively, Oak was shut
out all but one inning with it's first hit coming in the
bottom of the 5th by Will Hoffmans. After 2 quick
popups, Jacob Fowler's single moved Will into scoring
position and an single by DH Steven Butler drove in
Hoffmans. Fowler alertly scored on a wild pitch which
put the Panthers up 2-1 for good.
Great game by both teams!
